Well, concerning M.C.R, they have a thing for putting a lot of things out there in their songs that their listeners don't often feel confident enough to discuss.

I really dont know how this caught on. Their music sounds somewhat childish well maybe thats why everybody likes it. I just find it not very appealing since Ive listend to almost nothing but angst filled, deep, serious rock all my life.

-Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
-The Grateful Dead (yes, I know. Flame me)
-Eric Clapton (after he went "adult contemporary", I love his blues and the stuff he did with Cream)

You do know all of these had an important role to play in todays modern music.
They where some of the greatest rockers in the day and music would not be the same without them.
