Lincoln, Wilson, FDR, Clinton, Andrew Jackson (just for being a badass in general)

And I'll throw in Nixon just cause he's my old man's favorite for getting him out of Vietnam.

How you can lump Richard Nixon in as one of the greatest presidents is beyond me. For crying out loud, he spied on the other party!

Anyway: (In no order)

Franklin D. Roosevelt
Abraham Lincoln
Teddy Roosevelt
Andrew Jackson
William Clinton
Harry S. Truman

ill settle on two old ones
George Washington, for understanding the dangers of partisan politics and setting precedent of what a president should be
"King" Andrew Jackson, for putting the power in the presidency, even though he was a pretty evil guy for killing all of the native americans

He was alos bi-polar, invaded mexico under orderes not to, fired his entire cabinet, and was the first president to be impeached.

Yeah, he kinda got paranoid and did something wrong that ultimately brought him down. But other than that, he was actually a pretty good president, especially in matters of foreign policy (got us out of Vietnam).

Best presidents ever? In no particular order:

Reagan
FDR (here because his leadership got us through the depression and WWII, even though his policies did lead to modern liberalism)
Jefferson

Well, he didn't kill ALL of them--only those who resisted his attempts to remove them to was was then thought of as a remote, far-away place, but is today known as Oklahoma.

Come to think of it, Oklahoma is STILL thought of as a remote, far-away place. :)

That was Johnson who got impeached, not Jackson.

-George Washington: hey, he set the bar...

-Thomas Jefferson: i hold many views that he did (like sleeping with ur slaves is a personal favorite)

-Andrew Jackson: he was a politician but acted like he wasnt, pure genius

-Teddy Roosevelt: the big stick policy, and come on TEDDY BEARS are named after him... he had to rock as a president for that

and thats it...

Half the politician out there today do just that. In fact the Democractic party had done the exact same thing to the Republican headquarters shortly before the watergate break in. However Nixon also got us out of Nam, opened up China, and thankfully got rid of many of the borderline communist social programs that that idiot Lyndon Baines Johnson put in place and which were single handidly leading the country down the tubes.

Anyway: (In no order)

Franklin D. Roosevelt
Abraham Lincoln
Teddy Roosevelt
Andrew Jackson
William Clinton
Harry S. Truman

How can you put Clinton on there? He lied repeatedly to the American people, infinently more than Nixon ever did, he disgraced the office of the president, he allowed the stcok market to get obscenely over valued (despite economists warnings that the stock market was over valued by as much as three thousand points) thus leading us into our current recession, he dropped bombs on Iraq with no purpose or strategy merely to distract attention from the Monica Lewinsky scandal, during the war against Milosovich he decided that he could win a war without ground troops so that he could brag that he saw over a war with no american combat cassulties and as a result ended up inflicting as many civilian cassulties as he did military ones and on the way out of office he pardons anyone who is his friend, acquitance, kin, or who can cut him a check a presidential pardon and you include him with the likes of Teddy and Abraham?

Nope hes right it was Johnson. He took over for Lincoln and took a rather lenient stance on the south. This pissed off the so called "Radical Republicans" in his own party. Thus they impeached him although the final vote to remove him from office failed as it did with Clinton. Following Johnson's term his party nominated Grant who while he was an excellent general had no bussiness being in politics. With Grant in place the Radical Republicans were able to do as they pleased.

I'll name one that isn't here.

And many of you won't agree with this.

Clinton.

Really. He wasn't an all-time great, but he was good.

He receives my nomination for "Best use of a cigar during Presidency"

Besides, every one I was going to mention was already taken.

C'mon now. Lemme guess: not only is Clinton responsible for the current recession, but any success he did have was due to Reagan and Bush Sr.'s great handling of the economy. Riiiiight.

The president doesn't have anything to do with the stock market being overvalued. The buyers and sellers of securities make the market, and if they wanna take a risk on an overvalued stock in the hopes that the earnings will catch up, that's their choice. That's why it's called a "free market". What's the president supposed to do, order everybody to stop taking chances?

If you wanna hate on the guy for lying about getting a BJ that's fine, but at least be fair about it and give credit where it's due.

His foreign policy with china and the USSR paved the way for the end of the cold war. That cancels out all of his scandals.

You make a good point, I have long said that the economy tends to govern itself. Generally the president has little power over it. However Clinton and the Democrats took credit for the roaring stock market for years and continued to let it grow so they could continue to reap the political rewards of a good economy. If you want to maintain that the current recession isn't the Clinton administrations fault I wouldn't disagree to a great extent. However if you wish to say that the economy during the Clinton administration was his doing and that the current recession (which kicked in before Clinton left office) is Bush's fault, then your arguement reaks of hypocrisy.
