Would anyone be interested in a competition which focuses on a theme or scenerio? How it would work is:

1. A theme is chosen for competition (ie: battle)

2. Contestants write a song to the theme, including a story, or expanding on given description of
said theme

3. Entries are all private messaged, or emailed to myself or the main competition host.

4. Peer evaluation through a unique voting system: 3 points for first place, and any number of second place votes all worth 1 point. Contestants can vote, increasing their score by 3.

Let me know if you would be interested in such a competition. It already exists on another forum, and I want to know if you would be interested in participating as well to expand it further.

Sounds like a great idea! It would be nice to have a specific focus for a change.

Sounds like a very poor version of the MAC.

Great! Im glad to see that there's a lot of interest.

I'm not sure what the MAC is, but this contest has been running for a year and a half on its own so far, and I'm only looking to find more potential competition regulars.

Keep an eye out for the thread to appear within the next few weeks. The current round is just finishing up. You can see the thread here: http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=50 32

Originally it was called TOMC, and now it's under new management and a new competition name, CMC.

You can upload them to Newgrounds. The only important part is that you have somewhere to host the song. All of the entries are hosted on the same server when it's time to vote, and after the competition is done, they're hosted on the CMC website.

Hi, I'm the administrator of the competition that Brendonian is talking about. I went ahead and took a look at the MAC and I can already see that CMC and MAC are two completely different competitions. Similiar, but different. MAC is focused on composing music for the sake of integrating with flash movies (which makes sense given the community). CMC is music composed for music's sake. CMC (Conceptual Music Competition) is a competition for exploring interpretations of various themes by different people. The idea is to use the theme to be a launch point for creative expression. Overall, it is a very free format designed to spur creativity. It's successful because people use the opportunity to try new ideas or develop other ones and it gives them an excuse to compose something.

Brendonian came to me with the idea of presenting this idea to this community because he felt that the competition is something worthwhile and had the universal appeal that could go beyond OCR, to which I agree with him. He suggested that this is a strong enough community, with enough people that enjoy creating music, that there would be people here interested and willing to give it a shot.

Currently, as Brendonian said, we're just finishing up a round, with voting due to close this Saturday. If the interest is strong enough here, for the next round, we'll open up a version of the thread/topic (whatever it's called) here on this forum, so that any of you can participate.

I'd love to hear from you on what you think and please let me know if this is something you would see as worth doing. Thanks.
