Like the title stated, Halo Trial for free on your computer. Yes, on your computer so you download it - not for your xbox or any other game console for that matter. This is Microsoft's gift to all Windows OS users. Your system must meet the requirements in order to run it though. The information and the download link can be found here.

Most of you will probably have a system (Like mine) that doesn't run the game smoothly on maxed out settings. Therefore, I suggest that while your editing your profile you should put the Resolution to the highest possible for aiming accuracy and text legibility (Yes, you can type to others while playing) while putting all the other stats at their lowest possible.

I will be hosting a game until 11:00 p.m. everyday starting at 12:00 p.m. (Noon exactly) called "Newgrounds" with the password being "noobs". I'm available on AIM if you need help and also when looking for games sort by the lowest PING so you can have a smooth game. If you don't live near the state of Georgia in the U.S. then I will probably have a high ping with you; ie it will take a longer time for information to roundtrip from you to me then back to you which will result in a less smoother game.

It's much more fun and (I don't wanna derail this into a CS vs Halo) but everything about it is free and also the novelty of playing a game made for Xbox on your PC for free and online against others is just overwhelming. Try it out and see for yourself.

I have the full version (For OS X) and as far as I know the demo let you play online too; i played it way too much online. Blood Gulch, sooo many times.

Garry's Mod
Mistake of the Pythagoras
or any other of the thousands of mods out there.

Halo, of couse, has mods but not as many or as fun and original as the Half-Life mods.
