Boy hangs himself 'like Saddam

Multan - A young boy who tried to copy hanging scenes from the execution video of Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein died in central Pakistan, said police on Monday.

Mubashar Ali, 9, hanged himself, while re-enacting Hussein's hanging with the help of elder sister, 10, after tying a rope to a ceiling fan and his neck in his home in Rahim Yar Khan district on Sunday, said a local police official.

The father of the deceased boy said that his children had been watching the video of Saddam Hussein's execution on television and attempted to imitate the hanging as other family members thought they were playing in another room.

"My wife and sister rushed to rescue Mubashar when children cried for help from the adjoining room, but he died due to hanging," said Alamgir Paracha, father of Mubashar.

Police said that the death was accidental and a case of parental negligence.

"It was an accident which happened due to carelessness of parents," said district police chief Sultan Ahmad.

Images of the fallen Iraqi dictator with a strap around his neck, surrounded by executioners in balaclavas, were repeatedly telecast by Pakistani television channels at the weekend.

Commentators and the media across Europe had expressed shock and unease on Sunday at graphic television pictures showing the last moments of Hussein just before his execution.

Some parents are way to much ignorant about teaching the kids what you can do and what you really shouldn't do, i mean: I didn't have proplems on thinking that hanging yourself would kill you, you don't need education for that. And letting these kids go on internet at that age without even knowing the basic taboos and morals is TOTALY irresponsable.

But still, some parents are way to much against internet because of this, and often just to cover their own asses on the bad parenting.

I wouldn't say it is entirely the parents fault. You can't watch your kids 24-7. Maybe they should have taught them a little more common sense and regulated their T.V. but even I knew at 9 years old that hanging yourself wasn't exactly good for your health.

Contrary to some of the previous threads, I do not think this is the parents' fault. I mean yeah, you can easily assign blame to them if you want, but the reality is that you cannot keep your eyes on your kids 24/7 and as we all know, kids do stupid shit. This is just a horrible tragedy.

Which would have been plenty to entice a young child to imitate the act.

But alternatively, maybe they did show the actual hanging in Pakistan, they don't have censors that we in the west do. They might have aired the camera-phone video that showed him drop and hang lifeless that was leaked on the internet.

I would consider this a tragedy if it were not for the fact that I was that age once and guess what I knew that if I tried to hang myself I would DIE!!! Now if this child was 6 or maybe seven maybe then I would think differently but as it is this child was doomed from birth with the genes of a imbecile and so the world is better off with that bloodline ending.

It just shows how fragile a young humans mind can be. The correct thing to do is NOT to censor the world to them and not let them watch TV but instead parents need to talk to their children about what they see on the news and make sure they understand what is going on.

I dont know if the father realizes but his son is a stupid people and we need less of those so it may have been the smartest thing his kid has ever done.
