What's wrong with some Americans?

Several Americans told me I was going to hell when I said I didn't believe in God.

Are there really so many people who still believe in God there?

And I can't believe how prudish some Americans are. Parents protest against naked armpits. Protests against abortion or porn movies are not rare.

Land of the free?

You're an idiot. First of all, you have never even been to America, so shut up. Second of all, there has never been a protest against naked armpits, anywhere on earth, EVER. I have never heard of a porn movie protest either. Most of America's society is Pro-Choice as well, so whatever anti-abortion protests have occurred here are in the minority.

By the way, just because one American said something to you doesn't mean thats the way that all Americans think. For instance, I'm going to go ahead and say that there are probably some people in Belgium that are not complete idiots, despite you.

Also, how would people protesting something in any way not make this a free country? Yes, land of the free, as in FREE to do what you want, including protest.

Retard. Learn how to read, dumbass. I said SOME Americans. And yes, there have been loads of protests against porn movies and some even against naked armpits. Where do you live? Alaska? And the 'Land of the Free' question didn't mean I was doubting it, I just wanted to know how some people with a brain size actually bigger than a walnut felt about it. Most of my posts were questions, by the way. The only thing I stated was that some Americans are more prudish and that those protests exist(ed), YES more than in other countries.

I'm not going to even bother quoting this guy.

You know what, man? You need to grow up and deal with the fact that there are ALWAYS going to be people telling you their opinions in ways that YOU DON'T LIKE.

I happen to be Christian. I believe that yes, if you do not accept Christ, you will go to hell.

Who the hell do YOU think you are to bash me for it, even indirectly? You have the audacity to pass judgement on ALL Americans -AND- all Christians, because of what a few people have said to you?

Once again, grow up. You have no right whatsoever to bash the freedom of this country, because I can say this, RIGHT off the bat: I have the constitutionally protected freedom to believe in whatever God I want to.

Just because someone shared that with you (in a not so positive way) doesn't justify bashing every american and every christian IN america.

Let's pretend you don't believe in eating pepperoni.

OH MY GOD! What if someone tells you that they think you're a freak because you don't eat pepperoni pizza?? WILL THE WORLD END!?

Pfft.

Don't want to bother with your entire post, but yes people have protested porn, both soft and hard for a very long time. Orgazmo was my most recent memory of people asking for theaters to be shut down...

How was I 'bashing' every American and Christian? Yes, I do find the fact that people tell you you're going to hell just because you don't believe in God disturbing.

If you read it, actually, he states that while there's never been a staged protest against armpit hair (ew, that's just...uncomfortable), he'd never HEARD of protests against pornography.

He didn't say that there weren't any. Just that he'd never heard of it.

Taxman...there are. :) A lot of them around here, in fact, since Portland is a HUGE sex industry mecca. There's been picketing and protesting and all sorts of things whenever any sort of new porn store opens up, especially when it's in a questionable zone.

The fact remains, however, that this thread is exactly why people grow up to be so ignorant.

You know what this reminds me of?

I met a woman once, Theresa, who was SOOO PREDJUDICED against black men because she'd been raped by one. She didn't just hate that one...but ALL of them. Every one of them.

Isn't that the same thing that's going on here?

So one, or even a few, americans did something that the thread-started didn't care for. So freakin' what? That's what life is...learning how to deal with things that might rub you the wrong way.

Maturity is when you learn the difference between justified anger, and throwing a tantrum. People are going to do things that you don't care for, kid. Learn to take it stride, and at least learn not to let your anger spill out and insult or offend or hurt others. That's the dignified thing to do.

Retard. Learn how to reason analytically, Dumbass. Arguments against "some American's" are completely vaccuous.

And yes, there have been loads of protests against porn movies and some even against naked armpits.

Ok, well, having lived in America for 22 years, I have yet to see one. If you are so sure that there are "loads" of them, go ahead and cite a source for them.

Where do you live? Alaska? And the 'Land of the Free' question didn't mean I was doubting it, I just wanted to know how some people with a brain size actually bigger than a walnut felt about it. "some Americans" are more prudish? Thats the stupidest thing I ever heard. With that reasoning I could go into your hometown, find a schizophrenic and say "Wow, it looks like SOME BELGIANS are more likely to walk around all day talking to themselves than most Americans". So sure then, some Americans are more prudish. Hell, SOME American's are more likely to drink gasoline, and SOME American's are more likely to rip their toenails out too. If you dig far enough into our society you will find some religious wackos and puritan fuckups. They in no way represent the majority of the population. On the same token, anyone who cared enough could closely examine your society and find its share of wackos as well. Crazy people exist everywhere on Earth, it is not a solely American quality.

Wow...this is getting under my skin. Thank God for the limit of 4 posts to a thread per hour. You'd be getting an earfull, kid.

You 'bashed every American and Christian' by the very title of your post. It's hateful and ignorant. You called religious Americans 'freaks'. There's no need for something like that.

And whether or not you find my belief system disturbing is YOUR problem, not mine. I have every right to that belief, and it is your job, as a human being, to respect that right. I don't expect you to understand this, especially after starting such a thread.

If you have a problem with something that happened...make it personal with THAT PERSON. Don't group every American or Christian or 'religious freak' into it.

The point is that taken over a whole Americans are more religious than any other western country. I'm not even going to bother replying to the rest of your post because it contained no valid arguments. Why are you taking the fun away in bashing America? You're not supposed to be arguing. I was expecting an American to say 'OMG U SUX0RZ!!11'

I just want to know what that is supposed to mean? "Still believe in God." What? Do you think it is "going out of style" or an obselete belief? Personally, I am not a Christian to follow anyone but Christ, and that will not change ever because I know the truth.

Wow. Sad for you that I can post again.

You didn't say outright you hated Americans. Your thread is hateful and stereotypical. I think you know that.

I'm touchy, yes. About this? Of course. When you start making such blanket generalizations about an entire nation based on an individual...or a group...then my word. That's something to be touchy about. Learn a little tolerance in your life, for ALL THINGS.

What you don't get is that yes...this is just an internet forum. But quite honestly...how people represent themselves here is probably quite indicative to how they are in person, and in life. If you're this judgemental and intolerant to people's beliefs and opinions on the internet? I'd hate to see what you'd be like confronting someone face to face.

Again, this next is to Taxman. I agree you probably haven't seen any protests against the sex industry unless you live in a place that's rather active in it. I can guarantee you that every time a Fantasy Video opens here in Portland, there's picketers.

Not a problem, really. You just didn't know. I can give you sources if you like, tho I've seen the live coverage with my own eyes. lol

Based on what? Your uninformed stereotype? yeah, I thought so.

I'm not even going to bother replying to the rest of your post because it contained no valid arguments.

Hmm, I'm beginning to think that you have been away from valid arguments from so long that you can no longer identify one if it refuted you. Read it again if you are having trouble.

Why are you taking the fun away in bashing America? You're not supposed to be arguing. I was expecting an American to say 'OMG U SUX0RZ!!11'

If you want that then you shouldn't be posting in the politics forum. Go to the General forum if you want to post with the idiots. Most of the regulars here know how to argue by using valid points and logical syllogism.

You should realize that Christianity has nearly 2 billion followers in 260 countries and is growing so "still" is not exactly an accurate word. Even, if it's not Christianity the vast majority of the world's population believe is some sort of deity or deities, be they Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, etc. Approximately 15% of the world is non-religious. 15%, that's all. Don't delude yourself by believeing in some overwhelming atheist majority.

You must rralise that the 2Billion that are Cristian may not be Cristian in the sense that they believe in god. I dont believe there is a god, but I would describe myself as Cristian if i was visiting another country. It lets them know about the culture and language and system I follow.

These figures come from a study of belief, not culture.

lol, no, no, no, you're mistaken. I'm simply stating that in a time such as this, the phrase "no worries" is kind of funny novelty thing. I'm way past the "animosity". Harharhar...
