Yeah, the Cubans got their heads on straight. Of the 6 native Cubans I've come to know, 5 have declared themselves staunchly pro-Bush and pro-conservative agenda policies. Whenever I hear their stories of reall struggle and poverty under Castro, and their impressive work ethic not only for their own prosperity, but for America's as well, I can't help but feel extremely proud of the American way.

Ya know?

Oooooooooooooooookkkkkkay--
If that floats your boat, so whatever...

while I'm latino and all that...
Lets just say that I don't agree with their voting trends in the US especially in 2000.

Not Mexican immigrants. Sure, Roman Catholic and everything...
But this is a poor demographic and towards the end, they will vote Conservative but mostly Liberal for Liberals are usually the ones whom they see more down to earth.

My mother is a Conservative... but she voted Liberal Democrate (and for Nancy Pelosi, yeah mom!)

But Cubans... another hispanic demographic group. Now that's a different story--

I was being mostly sarcastic to counteract our idiot of the hour, Oblivia :) I mean, seeing as every single post he's made almost has been about how evil Dems and liberals are, and how they want to ruin our country and world.

I just find it hard to digest someone with any inclination of conservatism would vote for Nancy Pelosi. But then again, she's probably what passes for conservative in Southern Cali.

Have they got their own state yet?

This is San Jose... part of the Bay Area. Not Southern California.
In any case, she is a Conservative, but for the majority of her life she was poor and came here as an illegal immigrant and worked with lawyers to become legal.

The Conservative Story isn't so clean cut and freshly passed darling.
Which has been really funny because the most evil people she's meet in her life where Conservative: Drisco business owners spraying poisons on her (while pregnant with me, mind you...) allowing rapes to happen in the strawberry fields, not putting in bathrooms or bathroom breaks so that migrant workers were forced to defecate in the fields by the produce.

Forgive mama,
if she's the "imperfect conservative" in your eyes... if you only saw what she had seen in her life, perhaps you too would be Conservative, but not so eager to vote for every Conservative person in without using certain scruples and a weary eye.

There is a different between "Migrant" and "Immigrant" Read a dictionary and learn this

It's unfair if Americans can't vote in foriegn election while the immigrants can. I believe it's either we don't let the immigrants vote in our elections than their own or let us as well have the right to vote in their foriegn elections.

Technically if you go back far enough, you're all imigrants, so by your own admission, the only people who should be allowed to vote are Native Americans.

If you want to vote in a foreign election, try movingto somewhere like Canada, Australia, the UK (Perish the thought) and vote when you've successfully lived there for long enough to qualify as a citizen of that country.

Where do you think the vast majority of American's today came from? The only "real" Americans are the native Americans - It is a country founded by immigrants with ideals which allowed other immigrants a home - somewhere to settle and to live their dreams. America should be able to control who comes into the country, but they should not close there borders. THat would be idiotic.

They should be gunned down before they even get a chance to get across the Rio Grande, in my opinion.

That's just a pathetic, childish and immature comment to make. They are people too - they are possibly suffering from persecution in their own country - they may have nothing to live for there and there only hope is to immigrate. They only want to improve their own lives, and the majority will work their asses of to achieve this.

And those who think I'm a sick bastard should know that they have absolutely no right to live in this country, and call it their home.

They have just as much right as you and your ancestors.

while by the fruit of the labor of my people was this country made.

Who, themselves, were immigrants - moving into the native Americans lands and taking it through all kinds of sick means. They at least try to integrate themselves into the culture of America - they may bring traditions from there own country but in no way do they try to take anything away from other Americans.

Cheap labor is the only reason they are here

Which gives others a chance to move up in the world - if jobs requiring lower skills are filled by others - that opens up positions for those who work hard to get better jobs without the government having to worry about getting people to fill these positions.

if you disagree with that fact you should ask the millions of Europeans who try daily to get citizenship, and fail repeatedly.

That all depends where in Europe you are talking about. Many from richer parts of Western Europe emmigrate to take on positions which require higher education and are very skileld jobs. They bring a hell of a lot to your country, and do so because they think they can make a better living for themselves, and there families.

America needs to understand that they should embrace these immigrants - they should control who comes in and how many come in, but they should not close the borders - they should accept those who can fill jobs that are in need of more employees.

The only people who really seem to worry about immigration to me seem to be those who are lazy and do not work to get the skills needed for better jobs - they think that they are tkaing the lower skilled jobs taking them away from them. Well guess what - you are given every oppertunity to get good grades and to do well - you have your education pretty muh given to you - use it to the fullest advantage and let those in these poorer countries, who have far fewer oppertuinites open to them come to your country and fill these positions.

Minds shall break and bring a clear sky.
