What was the single best song you submitted to the portal in 2006?

Before you go all "Audio Advertisements plox" on my ass - think how this is an opportunity to get the best look at an artist you have always wanted to check out. We're not self-whoring, we're directing the genuinely interested to what we think best represents ourselves. This way we may actually learn from each other.

So just name ONE song. Feel free to elaborate a bit on why it's your best work of the past year. And let's also make the gentleman agreement to check out a bunch of the songs mentioned when you post one yourself, and at least leave a vote.

Mine is Time for bed, a slow build-up ambient track with several jazz elements. Most of it is played live on guitar and keys (Rhodes VST!). The right hand of the rhodes plays G - G' consistently, in 16ths. It is my best production work as well.
And it inspired PedroMancuso to record vocals over it!

There are far too many good pieces of music to be able to narrow down a "best".

hmmmmm nice idea this 'tang.

To sum up my best song of this year would depend on several things, technicality, musicality etc etc, i suppose i should go with my favourite that i've made thus far, which is A Mass Of Traffic Up Ahead . Technically it's not one of my best tracks, the sound quality is a little poor, but it just has 'something' about it which makes the track stand out. Its a simple chord arrangement, strings, a few vsts, and plenty of guitars, some delaying, some not. To me it's my best track of the year, though the alternative would be flounder. Anyways, yea.

Mystery Temple is my best. It got 5 rave reviews (including a high score from Deflektor!) and 33 downloads. It's also my personal favorite.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I want to say the 1st movement of my piano concerto, but really I'm most proud of Ghosts and Gremlins, the completed track. Initially, I submitted about a half of it which got 8 really great reviews, 111 downloads yadda yadda... then the full one got one very nice review from attemptedperfection. But hey, I'm just happy that I finished it.

(how's that for subtlety...)

I Switch It On. There is a better version then the one on NG right here.

"Lytt" means Listen, "Last Ned" = Download.

an extended version of "I Like Machines can be found there as well as a higher bitrate "Dratsabgnik"

Wow I only did 12 songs this year...

Well by far my best song actually wasn't hosted on newgrounds, but was a G9Core.com exclusive track, entitled The Adventure Awaits.

However, in sorts of Newgrounds tracks, my best this year had to be The Legend of Zelda. It was finally time for me to go back and do a few video game hits, and return me and Chronamut into the VG Gods rank (even though shawn never left :P). This track I spent time focusing on the other chord system underlying in the Zelda overworld theme. I really enjoy this piano plugin lol. Well, I will be returning to video game music soon, and will reclaim my old title.

I'm guessing my best piece of 2006 according to me would be Grey, a trippy, yet rather classic electronica arrangement. The reason i prefer this track over others is probably because it has more of a "theme" than some of my other tracks (although Highway To Bliss was going in the themed direction too, but i like this best).

It also was the first song i did where the track actually focused on the vocals, and not the instrumental mood provided, walking into a harsh, yet beautiful lead, well, beautiful in its own way that is. The track features vocals from SkizoFreinia, a stunning bassist as well as singer.

Unfortunatly, the track is pretty long, so i couldn't upload it to Newgrounds in a quality i could bear, so NG version is slightly cut down, but you can listen to the full track HERE, at T7online.dk.

Hope i wasn't too self-whoring-like :D

I'll be sure to check out your best songs soon!

Mine would have to be:

Tranced Out

Although I marked it as trance, it is definitely ambient. I consider it to be my best song I submitted in 2006 because it was the first time I found out that I loved making ambient stuff, and it sounds really cool :)

I do believe my best so far was my "Blue Sanctuary" : http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/view.php?id=1 605491&sub=51847

It is a dreamy ambient song. I think it's my best because of the dreamy ambiance. It's the ambient song that got the best ambiance i could make. Altough it is simple, it is effective, for sure.

And in some kind of way, this isn't just a sanctuary, but MY sanctuary; the sanctuary where i can make my blue dreams.

My personal favorite is Atomic though I understand a lot of people don't like it because they find it annoying.

I'm actually quite upset about my lack of exposure this year simply because I havn't done any video game tracks. Just prooves the more you put into this place the less you get out.

Latest tracks: Ain't Nothing To You, Fifteen Seventeen, Slowed to Joy

I'd have to say my best this year was Rose. It has 22 reviews and it's a platinum... those things really don't make a song good, but I put a lot of myself into it and I think it turned out great.

Check it out if you can. :)

lol, forgot to look up and down XD

I think my best song to date is Crybass. It is the first song I have made completely from scratch in Reason 3 (Blood Gulch was a remake of Capture the Flag). I really like how it came out. After I released it, it stayed at the top of the DnB chart with a 5 for 4 days, and got 9 great reviews. Then, of course, I got 0'd, bringing the score back to 4. So now, it rests high on the chart with a 4.29.

It's certainly my best DnB song to date, so check it out!

Mine would have to be Sound Crystals which took me forever to complete and sample. I also had to be critiqued by as many friends as I had while I was making it to see how I could make the song more appealing while keeping my own style.

This is a great idea for a topic!

It's always hard to honestly judge your own work, but I would say ."The First Day..." was my personal favorite song I submitted last year. I primarily make music for my own enjoyment, and I just find the second half of that song to be really catchy. It got kind of overlooked (only 19 d/l's) but someone submitted a nice 10/10 review.

Close seconds would be "Victory", "Twenty Years - Version 2" and "Another Rainy Day". As usual, if you check out my stuff, please vote on and review it! I'll always return the favor. And for those of you who don't have time to go through all 147 of my themes :) there's always my Jukebox Sampler.

Happy New Year!

hmm... this is a tough question, since the majority of my songs here (60, to be approximately exact) have been submitted within the past year (I've come a long way since "Eggs are Yummy" XD). At any rate, I think I'd have to go with -Until- in terms of overall coolness; I was really happy with how that one came out, even if I'm not very pleased with the second half or so.

I think the best song I made in 2006 is my entry for the MAC OCT. christmas contest.

Well "I" is a bit wrong I guess because I had help from my good buddy Bad_Man_Incorporated but I made the music to it none the less. ;)

Bad_Man did the lyrics and the vox. I gave him some info on what I was aiming at and I think the track turned out sweet...very sweet indeed.

I think A world so cold is the best song I composed to date. It kinda builts up from a sad mood to something "peacefully happy".

I'm proud of this song and thats not happen to often. Oh yeah...for the staters...I has 16 reviews, a score of 4.28 and 134 so far.

Bit of a tough choice. I am just going to go with my favorite song I made. Aqaurium Speculations
It is a nice ambient piece with a DnB influence. The melody shines on as a more chaotic pattern f drums come in and on.

I personally think I have improved very much since I began uploading around march or so.
