Slavery happened almost 200 years ago. It's over, and we don't need to talk about it. It's been abolished, people now have equal rights by law.

It's not like White people don't commit crimes. I will admit that if a black man gets areststed then it is his fault but I have never heard of a police officer being called a racist just for areststing a black man unless excessive force is used. I'm not saying that all police officers are racists but there are occasions where certain police officers abused their powers to all peoples not just people of color and sometimes racism is a factor.

Not at all. Just think about those miners, poor workers of Europe. They lived in poor places, but it never turned like a ghetto.

Why should we choose the actors because of the color of their skin ? It would be racist. I don't care about an actor's skin color, I just care about his skill to be an actor.

In France, there is a day to commemorate our culpability about colonization. Also in France, slavery is considered as a crime against humanity. But only white slavery, the government doesn't care about arab slavery.

I find this topic interesting in many ways, mostly because of the first post. I often have questions about this myself, and there ARE some obvious signs of racism against whites out there. For example, take comedy central. If you watch frequently enough, can you recall all the amount of times black comedians will make fun of white people? I know I have seen this many times, where in a black comedian's stand up routine, he/she seperates the white people from the black, and indicates many stereotypes among BOTH races. However, I do feel that if a white comedian was doing and saying the same kind of racial commentary as some of the black comedians on comedy central do, he would never get aired.

I agree at to this point. There is some racial commentary other races can get away with against whites that admittedly, it is unnaceptable for whites to do similar.

Black people are usually blamed for being the violent ones, and sometimes other races will say that white people are being unfair and using uncalled force against them, but you never hear of a black lady passing a white guy and being scared, whereas I know there are a lot of white people out there whether they like it or not, who would be scared of a large, muscular, black man simply by WALKING past them on the street.

They are underfunded, poor people live there, and the fact is, many poor people are ethnic minorities. It is dangerous because these people need to do some dangerous stuff to survive, or they simply haven't had a proper education to teach them any better. Here's the interesting thing about this. I both agree and disagree with this statement, in that yes, it WOULD be considered racist and that's a good point, but I also think that you are contradicting an earlier statement. Some colleges give black kids scholarships because they want to keep them OUT of the ghettos, as so many poor minorities end up in. I believe this action to be attempting an act of higher education for minorites, so I disagree with this.

Here's a good example of our government pussyfooting around the 'islamic dialemma': The government has supported several mosques ini an attempt to better intergrate the muslim community into the british society, yet within some of these mosques they teach hatred towards non-muslims, yet if the Church of England was to say something like that there'd be riots in the streets, just look at the reaction to the Pope's speech a few moneths ago, or the reaction to that Danish newspaper who printed a picture of the Prophet Mohammed.
