MoralLibertarian is as knowledgeable about economics as a jihadist is about religion. That's a fact.

You're as credible a source as a kremlin hitman with a gambling debt.

Although I do love the colorful simile, MoralLibertarian does happen to have a very narrow view of economics, and I bet that he'll even admit to that himself. He is very well-versed in the tenets of his particular brand of laissez-faire supply-side economics, but he is woefully ignorant of, say, Marx's contributions to the discipline.

Speaks volumes of his humbleness, I must say.

Really? 'Cause I was going for arrogance, there. You know, the whole, "my concepts are right and everyone else's are wrong, so I won't even bother listening to them" thing.

Alright I'll give this a shot, I can't remember everyone on here though.
The categories are (roughly the same as last years):
El Presidente -- The best all around poster.
Draconias
Defense Minister -- The poster most knowledgable about the military and foreign policy.
:The Mason
Department of the Interior -- The poster most knowledgeable about domestic issues.
JMHX
Economics Advisor -- The poster most knowledgeable about economics.
Cellardoor6
Newcomer of the Year -- The best all around poster not posting in politics in 2005.
I'll give this one to "cold as hell"
Mr. / Mrs. Troll -- The most likely poster to start a fight and stir up trouble.
Dre Man
Nice Guy / Gal -- The friendliest and most civil poster.
Talcum
Best non-US User -- The best poster not in the States.
Elfer
Best Topic Starter -- The poster that makes the most interesting, readable, and/or enjoyable topics.
Tonio Miguel for his god is dead topic.
News Story of 2006-- The top news story for the year, in whatever criteria you want to use (influence, amount of news coverage, etc.)
Religion
Just a suggestion for next year's award ballot, maybe we should add a category for knowledge of energy related issues. (points to self)

And maybe political leanings, too.

You see, this is why I can never debate you people on economics. I can barely understand that sentence, but I'm pretty sure it's degrading to ML. Ah, well.
That's the thing about economics: the concepts are easy enough to understand after you've taken a course on it, but it all looks so confusing with all the esoteric terms before you've taken one. ML has probably taken a lot more economics courses than I, or he's read a lot more about it, and is much more knowledgeable about the subject. When he writes a topic, I have to Wiki every second word to find out what the hell he's talking about. For me, talking to somebody about economics is like talking to somebody who consistently uses long, obscure words.
I didn't mean my comment as that much of an insult, though -- I'll just say that he's like Adam Smith, reincarnated and more rabid than ever in his ideas. To him, that's probably a compliment.

It would be a compliment to most people.
The man was a genious, an avante garde, and also Scottish. He set the basis for our economy for the present day and helped to make America the nation that it is today.

He was very forward-thinking for his day, true. The same thing could be said about Marx or countless scientists. So was the guy who created the first system of verbal communication by grunting when he was hungry. They were way ahead of their time. However, looking back on them now, we can see that they were wrong. Even though a particular caveman may have been avant-garde, I wouldn't particularly like to be compared to him. The same is true for Smith. Being Scottish must be a point in his favor, though.
