Stop wasting your time, it's not like this information helps us "Tales of" fans at all.

K!

Tales of Updates!

Let's start with the soft stuff.
Tales of Vesperia: First strike (The prequel movie to Tales of Vesperia) hit theaters October 17th in Shinjuku, afterwards a special conference was held, in that time it was told that the game's developers were thinking about making a sequel to Tales of Vesperia in either game or movie form, they told the Japanese magazine Famitsu.

Now to the big stuff.
Namco is advertising Graces big now, I mean BIG. The full song to the opening theme has been leaked and the official commercial can been seen on Youtube.
The hype has expanded to the US even further, since it has been also leaked that a DVD of BoA (Singer of Mamoritai~White Wishes, Tales of Graces' theme) will be released December 9th, a day before the game's release. This package includes an English version of the song, high hints and hopes for localization. Another DVD can be obtained by pre ordering the game, it comes with a serial code to download Vesperia costumes for 3 characters, Yuri's costume for Asbel (protagonist), Patty's costume for SoPhie (heroine), and Rita's costume for Cheria (Spell Caster).
To clarify on that last sentence, Tales of Graces will be receiving downloadable content.
To add to the Statewide hype, two scans of the game can be found in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, as they too hope it comes stateside. They will also be releasing (in celebration of the game) real life Mabo Curry, which before has been a fake dish only in Tales of titles when cooking. That hits stores on the 7th (of Dec.).

The official site has been updated with short clips in the Characters section.

Tales of Graces has also been awarded as the most anticipated games of the year in Japan by the Japan Game Awards Future Division.

You've seen the gameplay, if you haven't......
Combine that with 70 hours of gameplay and a story that (personally) I have faith in will not suck (they've nevel let me down so far...).
This game just might be better than Symphonia.

Tales of Updates
ast month, fireguardiancoty (FireG from the Tales Forums) shared with us some dialogue he had together with Yuri Lowell's English voice actor, Troy Baker, regarding a localization for Tales of Vesperia PS3 possibly in the works.

This time around, someone from the VGChartz Forum further backs up this story, claiming that Troy Baker has once again mentioned that he has been called back to do scenes for the game while having a chat with him at the London Expo. You can view the growing thread here. The guy even has pictures with Troy Baker.

As usual, this could be false info, or it could be for real. If this is genuine, keep in mind that some projects could even get scrapped despite having done some VA work already. The last thing I want to think about is Troy Baker pulling everyone's leg, so let's hope that isn't the case. Once again, this doesn't count as an official confirmation at all. Just, a little icing on the cake to put our hopes up :\.

Sure, you can join, but this crew is pretty much dead and is primarily used for my "Tales of Updates" where I just give out news concerning new Tales games in development.

In speaking of which....
Tales of Updates

On Tales of Graces' main site there are new character scenes for SoPhie, Hubert and another for Malik, the System section has opened with the game's battle system.
From what I've heard so far, the A button style for the characters work in a totally different way than we've ever known, while the B button style works like the normal artes button that we've experienced in other Tales games (Directional Button + B button = arte). The scans above further explain this "new" system using the A button. Imagine it to work like this: the artes system for the A style works in a tier-like system. The first time you press the A button, you perform the arte(s) that require 1CC. This then allows you to perform the artes available that require 2CC. As you can see, there are four artes available for that, and can be performed by using the analog stick together with the A button. The next tier of artes can be performed once you have performed 2CC artes, and so on.
Tales of Symphonia is finally starting the Tethe'alla arc of the OVA, a trailer has been released and the theme song has been leaked and can be downloaded here.

After seeing the trailer on how the battles look visually appealing and large roomed, I really can't wait to get my hands on this game. ^.^

Good thing I didn't say that.
Anyone heard about the new RPA game Risen? Yeah, I know it's not a real RPG, but that's all we got.
I'm thinking of getting it. If not that, I might consider Dragon Age Origins.

Dragon Age: Origins comes out here tomorrow.

I don't think I've been this excited for a Tolkien-inspired role playing game since... Ever.

Tales of Updates

Bandai Namco Games Japan has opened up a new teaser site for their new "Next RPG Project K". There is currently no news on as to what it is, for what console it is or even if it is a Tales game or not. There have been, however, hints about the game presumably being an upcoming Tales game for the Nintendo DS.

When they had updated the Namdai news list about this update, it was originally filed under "Nintendo DS" with the DS icon. Either they accidentally posted it early, or they just made a mistake in posting. This has now been fixed though with a new icon, indicating that it is a home game.

Also, despite Namdai's many subsites for their games, only the Tales Channel has a link leading to Project K's teaser site. Because of this, many are now speculating that this could be a new Tales game. There are also some who believe that it's a Sergeant Keroro game. The teaser site will be updated seven days from now according to its countdown. We will all know by then if this really is a Tales game or not.

In Graces' News

Amazon Japan has been updated today with images of the Tales of Graces Special Bag Wii bundle and the cover of the special DVD pre-order bonus.

The Wii bundle packaging will feature a lovely Tales of Graces group artwork by Mutsumi Inomata. The bundle includes the game, the Wii console (white) and a Classic Controller Pro.

The special DVD pre-order bonus, now officially titled "Dramatic DVD ~You Want to Be an Adult?~" (%uFF5E%u5927%u4EBA%u306B%u306A%u308A%u3 05F%u3044%uFF1F%u7BC7%uFF5E, ~otona ni naritai? hen~) features the status arts of Asbel, Sophie, Cheria and Hubert for the packaging and a floral pattern for the DVD itself. No news yet on the DVD's contents. According to Amazon JP, pre-ordering the Wii bundle will also get you the Dramatic DVD (and the Vesperia costume code, and possibly the ToG-themed postcard too).

4Gamer has also updated with a new article regarding the game's Groovy Chat and Critical Gauge systems. The Critical Gauge is the blue-colored gauge found below the HP gauge of the controlled character in battle. Successfully attacking your enemies and successfully evading their attacks will fill up the gauge. Getting hit by enemies will decrease it. Once the said gauge is full, the upper limit (max number) of your CC points will increase by 1 and you will be able to deal critical hits. Once the gauge is empty, however, your CC upper limit will decrease by 1 point and enemies will be able to deal critical hits at you.

Dragon Age Origins looks interesting. Maybe like Oblivion with a longer story.

Risen was supposed to be Gothic 4 but the devs lost the rights for their own game, either way it's gonna be grand.

The Japanese release date has been confirmed to be December 10th.

No US date yet, not even any localization announcements, but since they're releasing an English version of the theme song, I'm guessing it's in the plans.

You are also forgetting:
Tales of the Tempest (DS)
Tales of Innocence (DS)
Tales of Destiny 2 (PS2)
Tales of Rebirth (PS2)
And the enhanced PS2 port to Tales of Symphonia

But that's besides the point, high hopes and fingers crossed, can't wait for Graces.
On that note...

Tales of Updates

Rumors about Tales of Vesperia making its way to the Nintendo Wii have been floating around for a little while now. The source of this is the personal blog of Rikiya Koyama, Duke Pantarei's voice actor. In his recent blog post, this particular paragraph started the rumor:

Translated: "Tales of Vesperia is for the Xbox (360), and then for the PS3, and now, it's coming to the Wii. Right, even a theater anime has been shown to the public (b-but I don't appear in it?), and the drama CDs have also been successively released!! I did a lot of recordings for the Volume 6 drama CD!! This time, I get a lot of turns in it!! Once it's on sale, I'll notify you guys again!!"

Many people, myself included, believe that he was just referring to Tales of Graces, seeing as it's the most recent Tales game coming out for the Wii. But throughout the whole paragraph, he was discussing Tales of Vesperia (and its drama CD). You would at least believe that he was referring to Vesperia when he mentioned the Wii. For now, we'll classify this as a rumor... or a misunderstanding.

I think he actually is referring to Tales of Vesperia. How stupid could a voice actor possibly be if he doesn't even know which games he is doing voice acting for... -_-? If he actually is talking about Graces, I would just lose all faith in the intelligence of voice actors.

I'd be more excited for these games if I knew they were actually coming to the west for localization. So far none of the DS/wii tales titles have been mentioned about being released here in the states. Still got my fingers crossed for a PS3 Vesperia though, lord knows the PS3 needs a good JRPG already.

As for RPG games: I've been playing mostly Dragonquest VIII and started back up on Xenogears. DQ8 is good, but I just don't have the time and patience for it at the moment. Doesn't help that there's essentially no real character development(aside from very small portions of the game) and the plot isn't anything terribly special. The alchemy pot feels like such a chore at times as well.

Xenogears has been alright so far.
