The Sword of Justice:
The Lost Guardians
Chapter 2 – Return to Shrin
“We can hold the water tower. Let’s go check Suruilya first!” You say, making Aster smile, seeming to agree with you.
“You have that sense of adventure, like a Paladin!”
Moving east from the large castle, with a processing farewell from those who stay to keep guard, you navigate to the old wooden bridge that Aster suggested. ‘The bridge is always put up a year before the tournament, to make it easier for them to get here’. As you move over the next hill, a thin wooden bridge with chained on the sides, attached to thick wooden beams stretches from one part of the waterless river to the other, seeming to cross a deep cut in the earth.
“Is that it?” You point to the thin bridge with a nod from Jenti’s head. You look behind you as you eye the thirty guards that closely follow you.
Moving down towards the bridge, Aster only allows five people on at a time. You, Aaron, Pipi, Aster, Brian and Jenti are the only ones that don’t seem to blend in with the guards that stand behind you. Each blue armoured man holds different weapons, some with swords, spears or bows.
Looking down, you notice a small trickle of water in the brown drop, wondering where the massive flowing river went to.
Making it across the river, your eyes turn south east, where the large ocean stretches. Miles in the distance sits a tiny island secluded by itself. I wonder what lives there?
“It’s just down there!” says Jenti. You look at his golden armour, wondering if that is what he wears when fighting. “Though we should take precautions!”
“With what?” Asks a guard.
“We may have already been spotted. Pirates specialise in curved blades, usually two of them” he pauses for a breath. “The six of us should be handling them more easily, but at least three of you on one!”
“He’s right!” Aster continues. “Pirates may seem dumb, but they have some good techniques. They may be weaker on land, but we can’t take any chances.
Your eyes move over to the large town against the water, with ships and wooden houses alike.
“Is that the Ithacan ship?” Brian points to a large ship with a white flag, golden circle on top of its mast.
“It is!” says Jenti. “Then they must be here!” He points to the town. “The six of us will look for the leader, as he would possibly have the key to unlock wherever they are!”
“What if there aren’t any pirates at all?” You ask.
“See that boat?” He points to the ship next to the Ithacan one, with a dark flag of a skull atop it. “That’s a pirate boat, so we can confirm that!”
Aster looks at everyone, studying their faces. “Is everyone ready!”
With a roar from the soldiers, you continue to make your way down towards the town, spreading out as you do so. Aaron and Brian seem to stay with you, making yourself a team of three.
“We’ll be a good combination” smiles Brian. “I want to see how you’ve improved too!”
“I want to know how you lived!” Smiles Aaron.
”Not now,” says Brian carefully, “another time!”
As you look before the town gates, hiding behind the wooden fence, you begin to plan some tactics. You hear a set of steps move closer towards you, then stops. A deep grunt tells you it is the sound of a pirate.
What should Alex do? Why?
1. Attempt sneak attacks against any pirate
2. Attempt full on attacks against any pirate
3. Attempt parrying against any pirate
4. Attempt full defense against any pirate
