Yeah I know this old news but it makes me laugh everytime I think about when Pope Benidict made a bunch of comments about the muslim situation when he knows nothing about any of that crap when he's got a bunch of hardcore catholics that would probably do whatever he says. While the catholic church bans the rubber Mr. Pope could save 20 million lives and just say "Wear a condom" and we wouldn't have a whole load of people that have aids.

Altho i'm not catholic or remotely close to it, it's not his fault that people are born stupid. I'm not talking about mentally handicapped people, i'm talking about people who are born normal... and naturally become stupid.

Bullfuckingshit, idiot. Joining the Nazi Youth was compulsory, every young male was required to at least join or else you'd be tossed in prison. Fucking ignorant idiots.
And as for Benedict's comments, he was quoting past Catholic theologians, although I think that he was somewhat hiding behind them so that he could avoid some of the flames. However, the man is also a top Catholic theologian and he has also made attempts to have some dialogue with some of the more rational and reasonable clerics of Islam.

You can't really say that you support condoms when your also against pre marital sex now can you.
And to bring back the funniness from old news.
The Pope says that Islam was spread by war and violence and the muslims reply with violence and anger.
Jeeze.

You think the pope can solve all this?
There is a war going on in you're mind. People and ideas all competing for you're thoughts. And if you're thinking, you're winning.

The point is he could be saving people instead of causing death in the form of month long riots.

You do realize that that statement is basically an oxymoron, right? Who would have sex if the purpose wasn't for pleasure or reproduction?
Seriously, what you suggest is some type of magic codom that doesn't prevent pregnancy, but stops all STDs. Do you understand the flaw with your statement now?

Muslims like to riot and decapitate/lynch random people for whichever reason anyway. Too hot and arid in the region for most other sports. Poor folks.

I think that's what the Vatican hopes for someday. IIRC, they condone condom usage nowadays, because of the idea that preventing STDs via a condom is the lesser of two evils (the other, allowing HIV and other STDs to spread). Although I think they're more willing to condone the usage in married people where one partner is infected and the other is not.

The Pope isn't holier or in any way closer to God than most of us. Why should we listen to a crusty old man who thinks he's God's representative on earth?

You do realize that simply using a rubber will help stop the spread of aids but won't completely put it to a screeching halt.
Aids can be spread through blood also. Some of the aids victioms will cut themselves and put a very small amount of blood on the unsealed produce in the grocery store. Don't ask me why they do it but I'm sure they have reasons. It has happened I'm not just making that up. You see the aids virus is small enough to pass throught the skin without an open wound. So if a person with aids gets cut then touches something and then you touch the blood you could easily get aids.
So if the Catholic church ever supports protection which there are a few cardinals debating with the Pope as we speak for the Catholic church to support condoms to help descrease the spreading of aids. If one day the pope supports it it's not like everyone will follow instandlty, it's hard to change something that massive in one step after a billion people have been following something else for 2000 years. Also, how many catholics do you think are out there that completely follow every one of the church's laws? Not very many I would say. So even though it would help if the pope supported rubbers, you can't just parade around blaming him for aids. Since I would bet a lot of Catholics use condomns anyways.

Bullshit. Is this what they teach you kids now of days? It takes about 20 seconds for the virus to die once it get in contact with AIR. there is no ay it would still be alive if someone was to smear blood on produce.

One thing about Catholics and condoms; if the Catholic viewpoint on condom usage was solely theirs, why is it in the US (a mostly Protestant country with an anti-Vatican strand throughout our history) we are about the only Western, Industrializied country that does not teach our adolescents to use condoms as part of our 'health' education in schools? Why is it when it comes to our children we still extol Victorian-era 'virtues' and sense of decency that actually places our children at risk?

Because people with the same mindset as Dre-Man, with their strict and unbending way of looking at the Bible and how religion should be done, are able to be in top spots in order to stop the furthering of parts of science.

I graduated HS in 1993, in a small rural community in mid-Missouri.
Now as a parent I watch how this is still a big deal in 'flyover country'...you know us unenlightened poor ole rural folks!
But my central point is that it is Protestants, more than Catholics, who push the anti-contraceptive movement in schools here. Furthermore, it is the Protestant ethic that keeps this country puritanical about sex; which ironically only produces a more vibrant sexual counter-culture...

A little out of the blue and on a tangent, but it saddens me how very much love and sex have become disconnected, seperate entities.

They teach plenty of sex ed in CALM at school. Everything from diffrent STDs to diffrent forms of birth control. One thing that eluded me however, was the possible spead of STDs such as the HIV virus. If blood or some other fluid were in a drink or in a meal, would you become a carrier if your ingested it? Or would the stomach acid destroy the virus?
Second question, can HIV or other lethal STDs be transfered via oral sex?
