So, I thought I'd just let everyone know.

If you all aren't familiar with the Westboro Baptist Church and their site ( www.godhatesfags.com ), let me share a little. (I'm sorry to those that offends. Believe me...I don't like it, either.)

First, the site will piss off those that don't like Christianity to begin with. Second...it'll piss off Christians even more. In no way does this reflect the true nature of what Christianity is about, so don't think so. I myself am a Christian.

Which is why I'm gonna get the fuckers.

I grew up in a town called La Grande, a community of 12,000+ in eastern Oregon. There, Eastern Oregon University is the proud home of several theatrical productions a year, some of which are rather controvercial.

On the 17th of this month, I get to travel back to La Grande, and witness that very church protest a play that my alma mater is putting on. "The Laramie Project" is a play about Matthew Shepard, the boy that was beaten to death because he was gay. WBC not only picketed his funeral with signs that read "GOD HATES ***S" and "AIDS CURES ***S", but they have a website up that actually counts the days (and minutes, I believe) that Matt Shepard has 'been in hell'. This play, The Laramie Project, is being protested everywhere it's being produced...and I'm gonna be ready to fight back. *grin*

Armed with a Super Soaker, I'm going to go see the play, and when I approach the members of the church with said signs...they'll get a shot of icy cold water. Yay!

Whether or not you're religious, anti religious, whatever...that isn't the issue. It's about hate crimes and the spreading of false information and hatred. I'm gonna give them a -reason- to hate me.

Anyway...if I get arrested, I'll let you all know.

They're putting a play on in my home town. "The Laramie Project". My friends are in it. I'm going to see it anyway.

The WBC will be there to picket with signs that say "GOD HATES FAGS" and "AIDS CURES FAGS" among others.

Because I will be there anyway, and because they piss me off, I'm going to do something that will just piss them off right back...but not hurt them. Spray them with very cold water.

If you're gonna get arrested, you might as well go out with a bang... fill up your supersoaker with something raunchy like piss or deerscent (the stuff hunters use to hide their scent, available at sporting goods stores). And take a group of buddies with you, it'll cause confusion and make it harder for the security or cops to get you.

I just glanced at that site, and I have to commend Leaves again. That sickens me, the extent that they take homophobia to. They have no morals, and are no part of the Christian religion.

Well, Leviticus 18 does say "god hates that" in reference to gay sex, I don't remember the specific line though.

I really think that homophobia is running rampant in today's society.
Something needs to be done, mainly by celebrities, popular icons, etc. to stop the use of gay terms as insults and the spread of gay-hating.

This is taken straight off their website as their reason for the things they do and say:

Just a few interesting things to quote straight from the Bible...

Matthew 6:14-15 "For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses."

Romans 8:1-15 outlines how God LOVES homosexuals, not hates, but detests their acts of homosexuality.

These people at this W.C. Baptist church must just be very insecure and acting out of hatred rather than love. By the way, a squirt gun can actually get you in some big trouble... a friend of mine went to a mall in a few towns away with a big squirt gun and started shooting people with it from his car as they walked by. It is a good thing he was a minor and it was his first offense, because after it was all over and he had been to court hearings several times, the fact that the squirt gun was a "gun" or an object resembling one, people felt their lives were being tbreatened through the representation of the squirt gun.

Well, since I was the one who suggested she post this here, I might as well throw my two cents in.

It really is kinda sad how the words of a religion that was intended to promote love can be twisted to promote hate. These people represent Christianity no more than Osama bin Laden represents Islam.

And I love the deerscent idea, though I'm not sure you should actually go through with it (cold water is just fine). At the end of my senior year of high school, some members of the senior class of my twin brother's school (we went to separate schools... long story) dumped some balloons filled with deerscent onto the school cafeteria. One of them was arrested. But my brother seemed to love the idea. :)

Yes, but love the sinner and hate the sin. Homosexuality is to be detested, but that doesn't mean go out and bash gay people.

Okay, first of all...whoever called me 'son', I'm a girl. *lol*

Second...it wasn't really all that random. It's something having to do with political or personal beliefs, considering that Fred Phelps (the leader of the WBC) was a civil rights lawyer for over two decades. Three? Who cares.

Anyway...thanks to those who support me. Obviously, I'm not gonna go shoot someone with an actual gun. That's just silly.

And about the bible and homosexuality....

There's passages that say homosexuality is an abomination. If that's the case, I can give you over 70 other things that are abomination, including eating oysters. The bottom line is this:

If they are Christians, they should understand that Christ himself is the ONLY being that can pass judgement upon another human being. They don't have to like it. But they CANNOT and SHOULD NOT pass judgement. Commander has it right. Hate the sin. Love the sinner.

Christ himself also promoted love, kindness, peace...everything that these people do NOT do. They preach with nothing but hate. It's ugly.

Many times I've heard all sorts of so-called Christians preach at me about things I've done. My own sexual preferences, whether or not I drink or smoke marijuana, sleep with people out of wedlock...and they have the nerve to pass judgement. There's been a few people in my life that have turned away from me, friendship wise, because I wasn't living a 'morally correct life'. What did I tell them?

Jesus Himself befriended thieves and prostitutes. If you're gonna be an asshole to me, bitch to HIM, too.

(I'm very aware that my Super Soaking the WBC picketers is my own passing of judgement. I would like to say that I'm not telling them they're going to hell, I'm not passing any sort of judgement on them like THAT. It's my own personal way of saying, "FUCK YOU, you Nazi pricks!")
