Tut Collab '07 Suggestions Thread

This thread is a place where you can suggest your opinions, additions, and suggestions for The Tutorial Collab '07.

Just suggest things you'd like to see in there, any sections, tutorials, extras, music or anything. I thought i should include more people in it, rather than just the authors and helpers
:P.

So if there's anything you want added that wasn't in The Original Collab , just say.

In addition to that, a section on special effects such as fire, water and explosions.

Well, first thing first i'd make the presentation a little more user friendly. For one things like how it's layed out, but also the colours, fonts, filters etc. I remember when this was on the front page I shyed away from bothering going through it because I didn't like the look of what I saw from the first slide.

Is this even really needed..?

I wasn't thinking of a FAQ as there already is one on NG and it could just be linked to but stuff for people to help make (for example) sprite movies as i often see things such as "how do i cut out sprites" and im not just talking about the one today.

Audacity music editing program. Widly used. Its not all that complicated i dont think, but if someone gave you a rundown on the program, gave you some neat tricks or something, it would help.

ALOT more photoshop tuts.

Is there a section on the v-cam? I believe there should be anyway. a big section.

Web site design. This is something i plan on doing and have no clue about any of it. It woudl be cool if there was sections on it, giving you the rundown, maybe basic commands with java, getting hosting, costs, just about everything you need to know to get started and on your way with a site.

Online games. A section on online games if there is not one. Not just the action script involved, but getting a server, costs again, and all the little things that are sometimes hard to get around.

those are some suggestions i guess. hope they were a little helpful.

Mabye not, but it can't hurt :). If a mod finds in unsuitable, lock it, i don't mind.

Anyway, thanks, mogly, re2deemer and UF for the suggestions. I agree about making the layout simpler, i might even add a search bar to make things even easier.

I'm a noob at flash so i think that i know that all of us noobs would like more than anything would be section on backgrounds. A really in depth one that concers not only the rudiments of backgrounds but also how to animate them. But you don't have to add a section for it if you don't want to.

You could add a section in light effects.. i havent seen a tutorial about it (well acctually i havent searched).. like when and where to add shadows and stuff... even if it is not life important.. it makes stuff look more natural.. nicer..

Something that follows the cursor and does things on where your cursor is. EXTREMELY bad example

Flash commands. Ctrl+Shift+V is paste in place, Ctrl+X is cut. Etc.

thats a great idea.

All the things thatwe use, all the little shortcuts like holding ctrl for select or doing ctrl+shift to copy something by dragging. if they could be explained, people could cut flash production time by more then a fourth :)
