Every topic I've done like this with someone else has always been planned over AIM (except way back when I did that Late Night With Brian Peppers thread, that was all improv). Topics like this aren't always meant to be funny or "original" per se, but rather a break from the normal; something you're not expecting. It's "funny" because they were able to pull it off with keen planning, quick posting (even within the posting limits), and they were able to get it all in one shot (although it sounds like they had some mod assistance).

I remember doing this topic, and having to make quick posts and upload the pictures quickly, all before I hit any limits or got cut off by another poster. I personally love seeing topics like that one or this one we're in now, because the skill required to pull it off is admirable by it's self.

This is pretty much just increasing the post counts of the two users, but I guess it's kind of funny. I would have prefered a link to it on youtube though.
