He fell off that same staircase not one day earlier. Fell on the back of his head and his eye swelled up. Didn't think much of it at the time, but then he started throwing up so we had to take him to the hospital and make sure he wasn't dying.

I found the negatives a while back and scanned them. Oh dear lord, they were of a hideous quality and nearly dark. What did I expect from my dad back in the days? It was 1981, and he didn't really know anything about lighting and positioning.

This pic, while not that great, is a whole lot better... it's amazing what we can do.
I still own that blanket you see in the background. My mother saved it so that I can wrap up my own baby in it.
