Especially when the situation is clearly not random.

Humans, like computers, are unable to create with their minds (or software) a truly random algorithm. Sure, maybe pseudo-random, but it'll never be maximum entropy, because we think too logically.

So, next time someone says "LEWL RANNNNDOM" feel free to explain that it is, possibly, pseudo-random at best.

The word random, when used in its true context, is fine. For instance, a random number generator.

However, the word as a description for something odd and / or funny is definitely overused. It's pretty much become a filler word for tossers to show that they don't know how to express themselves in any case.

I was randomly walking down some random street when some random guy randomly comes up to me and starts saying random stuff. I was all like "WHOAH, That's some random shit right there". Then I randomly took a piss against a shop window and some random woman randomly whacks me with her bag and then some random car with random flashing lights comes and I randomly get put into the car and driven down to some random place.

Since I was doing randomly good behaviour they let me go on the computer, so I went on this random site and decided to post in a random thread.

Thats what I have always thought! Finally getting some support, it seems to be also used to decribe something you dont understand or know. EG. "There were all these random kids in the park"

well as i was randomly looking at the bbs, i randomly came across this random poster with a topic abuot the word random. he randomly said that he hated the word random. i must randomly say, that i completely, and randomly agree with this random statement abuot the word random.
