"The White Man"? No. Not "The White Man." It was white, Southern, middle and upper class people during a single century just prior to a massive, violent purging of those people from the US. It was the Democrats (the party of slavery, or didn't you know?) and the frightened, humiliated poor white workers. It was not "The White Man."

Most of the white population of the US is from immigrants after the Civil War. Very few people who can trace their ancestry to that era still exist. Beyond that, the same is true for hte black population-- most of them never even had a single ancestor in slavery. It's all a sham based on racism-- by both the blacks and the whites of modern times.

You have two strong arms and legs, a functioning brain. You have the right to vote, the right to earn a living. You have the opportunity to get educated as well.

I come from a family of Italian immigrants. My grandfather ( one of the few Italians allowed to serve in the Kriegsmarine, God bless his soul) came to Canada after the war with the intention of starting a family and making something concrete of his progeny's future. He busted his ass working double shifts for years until he earned enough to actually buy the contracting company he worked for.

Sacrifice, dedication, sweat, blood.. The blacks don't seem willing to give any of this to improve their situation.

People of various nationalities have done it. Why can't they?

If u are white, u cannot see it. U cannot walk in black mans skin. And u cannot say that whites strive for the betterment of earth....it's for their betterment not the betterment of everyone. People of all nationalities and races strive for betterment not just white. And u cannot categorize everyone.

In addition, if black people in the US didn't come from slaves then where the fukk did we come from. If we can't trace our roots to slavery, it's because it's almost impossible. And even more impossible to trace to Africa. Records weren't kept like that.

And yea, immigrants come here and make it...better than alot of americans..not just black. I do believe that alot of immigrants have a great desire to succeed in america....maybe cause they don't want to fail or go back to their homeland and are raised with different standards than most americans of all races.

Oh, forgot bout this. Some blacks do strive to improve their situation. Just like some whites do. Not all whites are successful. You are stereotyping black people. My family is black. We have a very large family with all types of black people. My father owns his own business and is pretty darn successful. Same as many of his family members. My uncle was a dean at Kent State(before he died) and I have an aunt that is a professor at MD University. I have another uncle that owns a steel plant in Detroit...he's rich. I grew up in the north and currently live in the south. I see such a difference here. I hear the word ni66er come from whites way too often. And I'm not sayin it's okay for whites to be called cracker...i don't support that either.

Now for a few things.
1. The reason so many people in Africa are destitute, poor, is that the land will not support them.
2. Africans also enslaved their people, and we bought many of our slaves from them.
3. Whatever my great-great-great-great grandaddy did to your great-great-great grandaddy doesn't mean jack shit today.
4. Lifting the black people up is going to require the blacks cooperation in order to do it, and making a bizarre sub-culture within a culture only helps to alienate them.

Keep in mind that as a whole, Asian-Americans are a lot more successful in America than blacks, though we treated them like shit too (They were roughly equal when slavery was abolished) . Also, keep in that we put Japanese Americans into concentration camps during WW2, kinda like the Nazis with the Jews. (kinda)) That was mroe recent than slavery, a lot more recent. There ARE some of those people alive.

Also, if others judge America or republicans or democrats by Bush or Clinton or whoever, then Xyklon was fully justified in judging blacks off his list of people there.

I think this quote summarizes the point I was going to make.

I'm not black, I wasn't alive in the 1950's, therefore, I can't comprehend what blacks went through in that time period (or during pre-1860's), nor will I pretend like I do. The best that I can say is that a lot of my family went through some difficult times before they came to this country from Poland (which has seen it's fair share of hell over the last 200 years).

Pertaining to the original question: The reason why the N- word is draws such a large response is because it is a direct reference to the pre-civil rights period, whether the intent to use it that way or not is there. Cracker just doesn't have any substance to it, and if someone called me that, I wouldn't take them seriously.

We should give up on the dream of ever establishing racial ahrmony. Non-Blacks will never respect Blacks. Sad but true.

This is probably the truest statement in the entire thread and this is coming from somebody who's Mexican grandfather came to the United States, triumphed over a racist school system in Texas and graduated the University of Texas Medical School at the age of 22 supported only by his poor family who gave everything to support his hard work and dedication. Not only so, but he became one of the most respected doctors in South Texas and later became president of the School Board in the 1950s and helped integrate schools for blacks and hispanic children.

I've seen that a helping hand inevitably becomes a crutch. Inevitably, in order for any group of people to make it, they must realize that it is only from their hard work and by making themselves prominant members of society will they become welcomed and cherished and society. The same was true of the immigrants we have also had from our east and west coasts. The Irish, the Italians, the Polish, the Germans, the Koreans, the Japanese, the Chinese, etc, etc, were all dispised and looked down upon and they didn't get a helping hand up from the government. They worked their asses off and made something of themselves. Sure they had people like Andrew Carnegie who were standouts and enormous successes, but it was the collective back of their respective communities that made them appreciated as members of society.

And since this topic seems to be revolving around blacks, I'd like to make a shocking revelation. America is not the only country that has enslaved blacks. Here's another newsflash, black people aren't the only people to have been slaves in the world. However, you don't see other countries with the same problem America has with a vocal black community that seems to have a hard time letting go of the injustices done to them. You also don't see many people of other races trying to delve so deep into their pasts to see just how their parents of many generations ago were wronged in order to use it as a trump card. Are the two so mutually exclusive? How is this unsightly scab going to heal if everybody keeps on picking at it?
