Okay I have become more and more impatient with this term on newgrounds, the term is "rape" it is being overused, and used in the wrong places. An example would be this:

look buddy, newgrounds is a pretty open community, you can't be overly sensitive here.

- rape jokes
- dead baby references
- indifference to tragedies
- general laughing at others expense

all that flies here with minimal problems. No amount of whining will change that, because thats what newgrounds is about, freedom of expression. Yes, that would also mean your free to express your contempt with these kinds of people, but in the long run, your better off to just ignore them and carry on. Even if you somehow managed to clean this place up of all moral filth, there will ALWAYS be a new influx of newbs, who will spam the place up again.

you should feel lucky, it used to be a lot worse, almost on par with Fugly's forums...

How do you think these people felt? Dozens of flashes (good ones) would be deleted now if Tom catered to thier wants. I like playing those flashes. This place is not about the bbs, its about the flash. SOAS might listen to you if you made a good enough flash depicting how your sister was supposedly raped and added a feeling to how much the word rape hurts you because of it (I seriously doubt it though...)

There is a difference between turning around and refering to someone like ' whatever, GAY/FAG/QUEER" , trying to demean someone for just something they are, and then there is indirect 'offense'. One is personally trying to attack a user, while another is just a word thrown into the air for a darker or more offensive type of humor.
We dont accept personal attack and hate upon our users, but fuck if we would stop them from saying anything generally offensive.

When it's being over-used, it loses anything personal it originally had, so it becomes less offensive as it's been dulled down and has become common.

Trivialising a violent thing like rape doesn't offend me necessarily. I understand its a forum full of teenagers that have little life experience, and probably don't know a rape survivor. its the same concept, same words, same idea, same everything. What about the repetition of a word, or 'offense' that makes it more 'offensive' as you say it more.
