They are reporting that snipers were shooting from the hotel, trying to use the media in the hotel as human shields. Just like Saddam's forces did with all those hospitals and schools, just like they do with the Mosques, just like they do with the women and children, using them as shields. I feel badly that any journalists end up dead, but it really is their choice to be there. Many (the smart ones) have left the country after receiving plenty of forewarning from the U.S.
And if the U.S. had intentionally tried bombing all the reporters, I guarantee you more than a few would be dead. We would have leveled the whole building.

The reporters themselves say that's crap. There weren't any snipers in the building.

The report I've heard is that snipers were shooting from the general direction of the hotel, and we accidentaly hit it when returning fire, killing a couple of reporters. Binladenmustdie had a great point: if we did it on purpose, we would have killed them all.
And on another note, we here at the Politics forum are often inclined to tell a newbie who comes in and say something stupid to shut up and get out, but I like the fact that Binladenmustdie intelligently stated why he was wrong. That's something that we should do when that happens, and leave the "OMG STFU" to the General forum.

now, on the politics forum, what we do is we post intelligable messages with our own opinions added to them. come back when you have learned that.
the US said that that was an accident and human error. poor reporters.

It looked rather intentional to me. If you have snipers shooting at you would you just a rifle......or a tank to shoot back? Stupid lies. There was also a claim for one of the Journalists who survived another "friendly fire" incident that the US were intentionally trying to kill them. I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

Let me ask you this: what could we possibly hope to acheive by killing journalists? It doesn't make sense. We have no reason to do it, and we don't just go around indiscriminately killing people, no matter how much you want to believe we do. If it was in any way intentional, then responsiblity falls on the person who fired the gun, or the person who gave the order to fire, because it certainly isn't US military policy.
Also, if snipers are shooting at you, and you happen to be in a tank, of course you're going to use the tank's gun to take them out quickly and easily.

Alright, first off, you're a moron. Second off, you have no clue what you're speaking about, and putting the entire post in caps makes me want to...respond like this. What in the hell would possess the United States to bomb their own hotel? Aah! Your name is Jive Turky for crying out loud! You didn't even spell Turkey right!

not too sure about that, but there is another reason why reporters and media are not and should not be allowed in the battlefield

Slizor, if someone shoots at you, you would know the general direction, but not the precise location, not to mention how hard it would be to actually hit a sniper with a rifle, plus the fact that he's concealed. A tank shell is much more convinient, and has a hell of a lot better chance to kill said sniper. This was just a accident, and despite what the reporters say, they have no way to back up their claims, unless they were at every floor at the same time.

look slizor, play a game of paint ball, and then tell me friendly fire is a pile of crap. anytime there is largscale use of firearms, a crossfire ensues. crossfire is indiscriminate, and if you wander into it, you will die. Reporters make their living by taking pictures of the crossfire, so it is only natural that some of them will die. The us is not responsible for the stupidity of people with cameras. (that should be a disclaimer written on our tanks)
