It would be quite cool if in the BBS posts had a name="post23" or whatever that post is, then you can link to topic.php?id=1337#post23.

I don't think it'd be hard for them to add it in now, I just think they don't want to. And it's not called a "name=" it's an anchor or a hyperlink with a name attribute.

We already have &page=, why need the post id?

Lots of forums have it, I don't see a problem with it, just depends if they can be bothered integrating in.

It's an efficient way of quick-linking to specific posts (ie: search results of users).

I agree. It would be really cool to have that. That way after posting you could be brought right to your post instead of just the page, and it would be easier to link.

I guess. Wouldn't be that hard to implement, now I think about it. :-)

Indeed.
I suggest you PM Tom or one of the other Admins Jordan.
Link them to this thread and wait for a response =)
Would be a nice feature to have IMO.

No, because the Newgrounds php script rapes top links.

Him buggering up the link has nothing to do with that, I suppose?

Correct, but it is useless if it creates a new tab/window as most people would just want to stay in their current one.

Right... Did you actually click my example?
This isn't the first time this sort of idea has been suggested, by the way. If you look on the list of to-do possibilities here, you'll see it listed there.

That would be a nice idea, that way you could delete spisific posts. I was thinking of a way for moderators to redirect topics. We get alot of flash topics and instead of locking them, it would awsum if liljim or afroninja, (if browsing the forum) could just send it over to the flash forum =)

This doesn't reload, and does the same job as #top

The moderators have had the ability to delete specific posts for years now.

That requires a lot more work than might first be apparent, due to the way we have the database tables set up (and changes that would have to be made to said tables. I'm really not keen on having several hundred thousand rows of redundant data, just because a few threads require moving now and then).
Having said that, I've had the ability to shift topics for a while, but it just gets messy in my opinion (particularly when you consider that most threads are replied to before a moderator has had the chance to read the thread).

Gah. That really wasn't the point. The reason I posted the example was:
a) to test whether or not something had messed up with the parsing functions.
b) to demonstrate that it is possible to link to anchors (where defined) within NG and externally.
Aside from a couple of nuances with parsed URIs that I'm slightly irked at, I think the HTML parsing functions we have at the moment are as complex as they need to be. You could go into many levels of saturation and restriction on user-inputted URLs/URIs and find people more limited as to what they're allowed to link to, than when not putting those enforcements/predictions on what they wanted to input, in there.
