How long has Basra been under siege?
From what I'm hearing, British troops have control of the city. There's still some resistance, but the British can move in and out without a whole lot of trouble.

It's when the news takes an extra step too far that we should be worried, such as suddenly reporting the Siege of Riyadh next Tuesday. That was pencilled in for late July...
Anyway, what's to loot in Basra? The amount of times it's been taken over in the past fortnight, I'd be surprised if they could find a stick of gum lying around. Same goes for Umm Qasr, the only city conquered before the coalition (read; US Army and British shaped human shield/janitorial crew) forces got near the place.
From now on, I decree news reports to have "***SPOILERS***" in their heading until the region is indeed cowering under the flag of the Republic of CNN.
