MRAC 06 December Competition README
--------------------------------------------- -------
Please read before submitting your audio or you may be disqualified.

The MRAC 06 Contest shall differ from the previous month, offering 3 different options to choose from. Although quite similar, the melodies differ from each version, allowing a broader range than the previous melody (Yeah, hold back the cussing).

This month HouseMasta and I (XBrav) have offered our three options, mostly due to the fact we were stuck in a stalemate for decision.

The three options are:

Option 1: Written by XBrav
Option 2: Written by HouseMasta
Option 3: Written by HouseMasta

I, XBrav, wrote the chord system so if ya don't like it, deal with it :P

Alright, so now onto the lovely little details.

Ok, firstly, when submitting your audio, the following rules will apply. Any breaking of these rules will result in immediate disqualification.

1) The melody cannot be altered in any mannor except for transposing octaves.

2) At a minimum, all original tracks must be present. As well, the melody must be clear when listening to the song.

3) If writing new parts to the song, please refrain from having it play as if it's a chorus. Remember, this is a remix competition and not using the melody as much may
reduce your score.

4) Your song must be between 2 and 5 minutes of length.

5) I would prefer it if you hosted your file on newgrounds, however if it is too large downsample the file to fit on newgrounds and PM me or HouseMasta with a link to the high
quality mp3. The judges will score based on the high quality version.

6) When posting the link for your song, please keep it within this format:

Artist Name
Track Title
Option Remixed

ie/

XBrav
MRAC 06 December
Option #2

The option number is crutial as it will be the basis to which your song is scored.

7) Please follow these rules to avoid conflict with me or HouseMasta. I won't be as sympathetic as HM was this month.

8) As I don't want any more confusion, the closing date for this month's contest is set at 11:59:59 PM EST Friday, December 29th 2006.

The prize is TBA, but right now you are guaranteed an awsome banner or two from me, XBrav.

These rules are also included in the ZIP File linked below.

As we can all use midis, and I don't use Reason anyways, all three options are offered in midi this time around. If you don't know how to import midis, ask somebody :P

Good luck guys!

Aren´t option 1 and 2 the same?
I choose option 3. I suck at remix, so I choose the easiest ;P

HouseMasta's rules

these are things i want to see but are optional..

i want to see different varieties of songs. im sick of everyone submitting it as DnB or trance. mix it up, perhaps jazz or orchestral.

but my biggest peeve is that you need to change the instruments!!! they're midis, so make sure to give them a nice rich feel. the whole point of this remix contest is to build on, so make sure you put counter melodies and some new baselines.

and for God's sake, read the rules before you submit or i will personally make fun of you here on this thread.

I think I might join thisone, it might just be a short thing (well at least 2 min...but im not thinking of the length here...), but it sounds like fun and I did feel for at least the first MIDI-pack... (haven´t checked the rest so far).

I was gonna skratch the melody and some stuff like that, wich obviously mean I will alter it... I will not alter the MIDI itself, that will stay intact, but when I export the channels to my HDX, I was gonna go creative with it, cutting and mixing n shit... live stuff, of course... But would that be concidered "altered" then? Also I was thinking of changing key (same change to all instr. of course), how bout that?

pefectly fine

change of key may make it sound worse, so check on xbrav with that one. i say stick with the one we provided.

One question, like I did in my last song, can I keep the original melody, but add others similar to it?

ok cool.

I wouldn´t say changing the key (on all MIDI´s, of course) would make it sound any weirder... changing octave was OK, and chaning key would mean a slighter change then... I
Imo chaning pitch, and key should be fine? I understand its difficult to find rules for eerything, but as long as it "sounds like remix" it should be OK? remixing can be a very stiff thing, but it can also be an extremley artisitc thing, where it´s all about being as fkd up in your head as possible to make it sound cool :)

However, I´ll wait until xbrav turns up then for a final word of this :)

Shit sorry for the double post, there was an error in the zip, but I don't feel like fixing it haha

So really there are only two choices, the first and second are the same, but I wrote it :P

So ignore entry number two, choose between 1 and 3

Oh and btw don't complain about my errors because honestly I rushed it to get you guys the best period to work on the song lol

Peace!
