4.09 / 5.00 15,161 Viewsok. i made myself an introduction to put before my flash games movies etc.
When i press ctrl+enter to test my intro and my intro is in its own flash it works fine, there is no lag what so ever.
But when i add it before a movie, it becomes extremely laggy, putting the settings on low doesnt help and the intro doesnt work properly.
Does anyone know how to fix this, prevent this, or tips?
All help is appreciated, thanks.
Notes.
- i use filters in it
-goes at 24 fps
-has a preloader
-i use scenes so intro has its own scene ( ex. Scene 1- preloader, scene2- intro, scene 3 - menu, etc.)
-i use Flash 8 professional
- intro has 29 layers
Here is a link to the intro by itself. If you are using IE, wait for it to finish playing once so that it can run correctly. (in IE, it lags because of blocked popups and ads or something)
Also for some reason, when i press ctrl+enter to test a movie, it is making a swf. for only the scene i am in. This problem only started recently, Anyone know how to stop it?
The one thing i can suggest is id ditch the filters youve put around the buildings and the misile. Overuse of filters can cause alot of lag and personally I dont think how youve used the filters around the outlines of the missile/buildings really improves the graphicsa great deal. I think that should improve your lag probs
It lags because you are such a filter whore. Remove the fgilters immediately, they dont make it look better and cause lag.
Agreeing with what everyone just said, it's WAAAY too filter-heavy, and in the actual animation it might be because it needs to load more or something.

filters. without a doubt. good luck with it though, looking pretty deacent so far.
i know everyone has said stuff about the filters but
you filtered like.. everything. please don't, i do not see a reason for buildings to glow at all...
said before also, the movie may not have loaded.
So loose most of those filters, i gaurentee it'll move faster
OK. I just removed everysingle Filter inside the Freaking flash. ANd It STILL LAGS!
wtf is wrong? i started out by removing the building and it still lagged - then i took out the filters from the rockets - and it still lagged, Then i took out every filter - and it still lagged.
WTF is wrong?
The Intro works fine if its in its own fla. But when i copy and paste it into a new flash file or other movie - it lags like hell./
ANyone know wtf is wrong?

lol the link i have is the one without lag.
I am going to add a link with the lag so people can see the difference in like 3 min
ok here. They are the same exact thing. Frame for frame.
But on the original one, it DOES NOT LAG. The New one, which is the same exact thing, but copied and pasted into another fla. file DOES LAG.

NEW
Lagging one
How about copying the file and seeing if the copy lags? :)
It is probably to do with pasting stuff in Flash. So you can instead paste everything else into the copy.

The copy does not lag. As its the same exact file.

Thats what i thought. I thought that pasting it somehow made it not run as smoothly because its not the original.
Pasting things into the copy still makes it lag :(

im confused....i remember the origonal "having" the fulters on the building, which you should have taken off, so the NEW one would "not" have the filters on the building......oh well.
anyway, your not doing what we are telling you to do. It is a combonation of all the fulters on scree, not just the buildings. get rid of all the filters, every single one. except maybe the smoke at the end, which i think can stay if it has a filter. But get rid of the builfing ones, get rid of the missile filters, get rid of everything.
then there is no way it should lag.
lag is a personal issue man. varies from comp to comp. personally, like everything lags for me. filters definitely make it lag though. i don't even like them that much.
Both seem exactally the same for me.
If you traced anything in the laggy 1 then it may be because of that copy and paste all frames and paste in new document.
