Well, I'd really meant pre-20th century japanese culture.
And all their technology is really american technology with a few mods here and there. We rebuilt their economy by having them manufacture our goods. And they did such a good job, the were even able to refine our methods and technology.

I can understand your admiration of Russian culture, though. They are a strong and interesting people.
