"Just because you buy a DVD to watch at home doesn't give you the right to invite friends over to watch it too. That's a violation of copyright and denies us the revenue that would be generated from DVD sales to your friends," said Glickman. "Ideally we expect each viewer to have their own copy of the DVD, but we realize that isn't always feasible. The registration fee is a fair compromise."

So... I can't watch Shawshank Redemption with my friends unless they all have a copy?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHA!

Oh man. I'd really like to see them stop this.

Guess the five albums and bands and you get a free cookie.

You know, I'd really like to see them do this with schools.

They show movies sometimes at school (for educational purposes).

For example, if you teacher showed you To Kill a Mockingbird the movie... I'm pretty sure not everyone in the class would have the movie (because frankly it's not the most exciting of movies).

Guess the five albums and bands and you get a free cookie.

The next step would be doing the same thing with cd's and mp3's, which would ruin my day.

Sense is made.

The MPAA defines a home theater as any home with a television larger than 29" with stereo sound and at least two comfortable chairs, couch, or futon. Anyone with a home theater would need to pay a $50 registration fee with the MPAA or face fines up to $500,000 per movie shown.

So basically any home where they like their TV?

I mean, if they were applying it to people who actually have small cinema setups with a big screen and 20+ seats then that would make sense...but two chairs?

What the fuck man?

So I'm not allowed a screen bigger than 28" without me being a cinema?

That doesn't make any fucking sense whatsoever. =/

Fuck this, seriously, just fuck it.

What do they define as "comfortable"?

well that sucks.. Good thing I don't live in LA or the USA (in case it DOES go ahead)

Still that has to be one of the most stupidest things I've ever heard... Thats like saying someone can't use your tap because at home they don't have one but then as others here said.. I'd like to see them try and stop us.
