http://denvish.net/ulf/1164951909_menu.php
Can you please tell me what it needs, and tell me if the glows worked, coz they work on my computer, but uploaded at denvish, they don't. And you can click on a few things, but they're all incomplete so just tell me what you think on the menu.
Thanks.
1) No the glows don't work.
2) It is annoying when only the letters can be clicked on. Go into the button and on the "hit" frame, draw a filled in box around the letters. (This just defines the click-able region).
3) I'd show you one of my experimental menus (how would I upload it onto denvish.net like you did?).

I wonder why the glows won't work, it works on my computer, just not on denvish, and I tried imageshack and that didn't work either.
I found out the problem, someone opened flash, changed the publish settings to flash 7, so the filters didn't work. Here it is now, comments please:
I don't mean to show off, but here is one of my experimental menus:
Forgotten Elegies II Main Menu
Please note that the "Start New Game" button only makes the menu fade into whiteness. So after it is completely white, right-click and press play.
Very nice menu. Also, do you have any music recommendations for a menu?
people dont spend long in menu's so any music doesnt really matter but make it sort of mellow slow and then when the game starts it picks up pace...

lol, ty.
For music recommendations there is what Peturo said, but it also depends on what your flash animation is about. What kind of a mood do you want to set?
lol, another experimental menu (laggy on slower computers) :
Forgotten Elegies IV Main Menu
They're both really good menus. For the first described in the topic, I would suggest a clickable area rather than just the letters. Just backing up what another guy said ;)
Don't eat yellow snow, Pepsi and coke are the same thing, etc. Visit my webpage! (go on)
Can I eat your brain? pleeeaaase?
You now have a duty in life!!! Clean up Newgrounds!!
Okay, what do you guys think of this menu?
Legend of Zelda: Past Memories
lol I stole ShortMonkey's thread.
If you choose to start a new game or load, the menu will only fade off. So Right-click > Play if that happens.
This menu is going to be on a Zelda tribute game that I'm working on. (Do you recognize the music?)
The in the menu in the above link, "Legend of Zelda: Past Memories", I tried my best to do a scene of a lake with some mountains in the background. If anyone has any suggestions as to make it better, or if anyone has menus that they themselves want rated, please post them
You're good at making menus. Are you good at making the games tho?
Add some filters, buddy ;)
besides that its okay; would be allot better with glows.

You talking about mine? Look at this one.

I'm decent (I think) but I guess we'll see when I finish my game :P
each of these menus have taken me about an hour or two to make, and im just cycling through different ones to see what kind of styles people like best. Unfortunately, nobody is responding :(
Wasn't this thread dead a week ago?
Zelda one was cool for a graphic menu i was thinking though shortmonkey, have sound for the roll overs?
Meh while showing off menu's i have started a new game havent touched the menu much yet but here is the start mostly look at the selection on the left :) all done with AS
http://www.peturo.com/Boom.php in a little longer i will start getting people to make levels but you can create levels now if you are interested

Interesting, what kind of a game is it?

ya, but I thought it would be better to bring back this one than to start a whole new one :P

thats better, I would suggest adding a "drop shadow" inside the buttons for an artistic effect. but still good.

Woah man, I tried it and it looks awesome! thanks... I just wish my actionscripter would get back to me, I haven't been in contact with him in a while.

it is a puzzle game :) you use arrow keys to move the pieces around press space to be able to change differnt pieces its a really hard puzzle game though well, as hard as the levels are made but has potential to be extremely hard cause you have to think ahead so many moves
So, out of my 3 Menus, which one is best? why do you like it better?
Shortmonkey, in your menu you should make it so that the the words and the area around the words are click-able.

I see, ya it is a really nice looking menu, though it is kind of confusing in how it actually is supposed to work. But I suppose if you can't figure out the menu, there is no way in hell you can figure out the game puzzles XD.
I'm really shocked that no one has noticed this, but the hit range of the buttons sucks.
oh, i'm really sorry! someone already did. I must have missed it while reading the topic. I like tthe font. did you just make it or did you DL it?
SORRY! (for the double post)

you mean you cant work out how to click on the level names?
lol nobody cares about my menus either

but he hasnt replied and i dont if hes decompiled it because i dont know his website
anyways here it is-http://denvish.net/ulf/1165468204_gothic%2 0hedge%20hogs%20page.php
lol i forgot your menus where alright but i wouldnt us them because im not really into the fantasy genre
A general rule of thumb that I have for all of you menu makers is to not clash sans serif and serif fonts; it doesn't look good at all.
For example, in peturo's puzzle game menu, with the tsunami effect on the level chooser, the font is serif while everything else is sans. Instead of doing that make it sans serif and bold. Then make a color difference between the locked and unlocked levels. Color differences are better for differentiation than bold or italic anyhow.
Another example is in pseudo pseudo's menus, often the title is sans serif and the buttons are serif. It makes the buttons look foreign to everything else. If you match the font types, the menu will blend together better.
My two cents
