...wouldn't there supposedly have been a WHOLE lot of incest involved, for the first three or four generations of mankind? I mean, they were the first, and no one else was around. Even if they had about 10 kids, that wouldn't magically produce people that weren't directly or indirectly related to their family. Mankind would have to be the direct produce of incest...and a lot of it. Which would be toublesome, because we all know that incest is almost a sure-fire way to procreate seriously handicapped kids.
And wouldn't the same thing have happened after Noah and his family got on the Ark and waited for about 40 days for God to flood the planet? Because after everything dried up, technically speaking, they were supposed to be the last people on Earth, and I'm guessing they didn't want to give it a go with the animals they brought with them on the Ark, in order to repopulate the globe.
Seriously now, I'm not trying to spark a flame war between Catholics and atheists. I'm not trying to belittle the Catholic faith either. I myself happen to be Catholic (though not a very good one). Please understand that this isn't a joke thread, nor is it spamm.
Could someone that knows a fair bit about the Bible please clear this thing up for me? I would have asked our Religion teacher, but I think I'd get expelled for even thinking about stuff like this. Incest in the Bible, I mean. I didn't even feel like asking my classmates, really, 'cause it probably would have seriously weirded them out.
and so I turned to you, dear Newgrounders, knowing how thoroughly fucked-up you already are :D so...gimme a hand, will ya?
In technicality yes you're right every human on the earth is related to each other, but incest implies a close relation.
Wow, I never noticed that before, but yeah, that's really quite true.
How really odd O_o
Maybe it was frowned upon back then?
I dunno.
Not religious either :S
Hmm..Burn the bible..Burn the bible *excessive chanting*
Because Adam and Eve and the garden of Eden could of existed
its just a fairy tale
like a snake can talk too
Explains why alot of people on NG are attention whores.
INCEST
Back then it wasn't a big deal, they didn't have the "pickyness" we have.
The problem with incest (putting aside the fact that its just plain wrong) is that it brings up the bad genes in people.
So Adam and Eve, having been created perfect, there wouldn't have been a problem.

INCEST
Explains a lot of things really.
This is so new, I never realised this before.
This too will pass.

Ok, obviously I'm not debating whether or not all the things said in the Bible are true...because that would be totally pointless, it always has been in Religion/Anti-Religion threads.
What I'd like to know is how this stuff is justified by the Church, which is a different matter.
If I'm a Catholic, and if I want to believe, I need answers to the questions that naturally arise when I come across this kind of problem. So the Church must have come up with something...ya dig?
i think its just goes to show how messed up the world is.

I know, NOBODY in the entire world has ever noticed this... I can't believe we're blessed to have such a genius mind among our wonderful community here. So creative and original to point this out to everybody. How ever will we be able to thank him?

Sarcasm...wow. How new, how inventive and original. And above all, how deliciously witty.
Seriously, I've been on the BBS for about 2 years, and I've never seen this mentioned. I have also never heard of this kind of thing being discussed in real life. Not in my class, not at my school, not on tv...nothing. Nada.
So what's the deal?
Even if you've already seen it, I'm betting a whole goddamned truckload of money that it beats the usual "Wii Vs PS3" and "I lost my left nipple" topics. By a long shot.
That, and you could just ignore this topic altoghether instead of attempting to sound cool and superior by making sarcastic remarks, if you've already talked about this sort of thing on some other thread.
Why are there gays in the world god created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve!
off topic thought I just say it.
There once was a dude,
That ran in the nude.
Incest is the BEST
Put your sister too the TEST!
Yeah, I had this one in thoughts a LONG time!
However, I've found the solution! They were monkeylovers!!! I:)
Darwin was right, you bloody peasants!
When God made humans, he must've thought, DAMN, I forgot the others... oh well... here's a bunch of monkeys! Breed, BREED I tell you!!!!
A rather disgusting-looking git that should have been disposed of ages ago.
You know what would be really neat? These things actually being noticeable.
To me, the bible is abunch of crock. If the story of Adam and Ever were true, yes there would be incest. Not only that, later children would be severly mentally retarded with heart defects. The bible TOTALLY skips over the dinosaur years...why? Because they had no idea they existed..that's why we read no stories about them in the bible. Thus they made up more crappy fake stories to where and how we came from. Evolution is the theory I will stick with, and always

I suppose that might be an answer to the whole genetical-disorder problem, but I'm slightly more worried about the moral issue here.
How does the Church justify that kind of thing, from an ethical point of view?

Yeah I know. Now lets go and create lots of other threads questioning the Bible even though we are going to get exactly the same responses.

Maybe the human race looked like monkeys, except they all started having sex with one another.
stupid monkeys...
I can't believe I'm sticking up for the bible, but, heres the thing:
Deformaty in incest is caused from the imperfections in two people to overlap and double on each other. We're all born with inperfections, and all different, but family members are too close to the same, so they share most of the same imperfections. Adam and Eve were born perfect, therefore they had no imperfections, and their kids had very few imperfections. Over time, people lost their perfections wirh dieting, and the atmosphere, causing imperfections that could cuase incest. Thats why it is the way it is today.

Uhm...just to point a few things out...
1) This is officially the very first (and probably one of the last) Religio-related threads that I've ever written.
2) After checking out n.1, you'll realise that I never got any answers about this question of mine from anyone else, ever. So no, I'm not gonna get "exactly the same responses", because I never got any in the first place.
Ya dig?

Ya dig this:
1) I told you how thats possible
2) Your a jacasss for not doing your research
3) Religion is a tiresome subject, and noone will ever figure out the answer, and we all have our own opinions in it, whether we belive or not.

If you look at every religion thread ever created here on the BBS, there are a lot of people that argue in exactly the same way in every one of those threads.
Ya dig?
Sure do.

That's right. Because as soon as people start questioning the Bible's teachings, the hold that religion has over people is severed.
Like in the book of Job, would God really let Satan take control of the life of one of the lords worshippers. Even though God could have predicted the results, many crops/people/animals were killed just so that God could show Satan that Job would always worship him. It's twisted and I find your God guilty of crimes against mankind. Handing over a mans body to the devil, I'd call that a crime.
The truth is, the bible is a popular collection of stories that may or may not be ficticious. In my opinion, it is dangerous to take the bible literally.
