Curing gays is like curing people with Down's Sindrome. I am not saying gays are retard or anything, just that it would require a complete genetical restructuring. Lets stick to simpler objectives for the time being, like continuing genetical research to cure/stop AIDS... It is already giving scientists a good deal of work as it is.

Decent people can get infected, too. Like people who get raped, as posted earlier by someone else. Or via infected needles at the dentist or the like. Or a blood transfussion and it was infected. Or even children born to HIV positive parents... See, the research to cure/stop AIDS isn't a total waste of time (and it is slowly giving some results if you look at it). Sure, a lot of people bring it upon themselves, but some others do not, at all. They deserve a second chance.

Okay, I don't mean to jump in here kind of randomly, but I've got a few thoughts:

What if homosexuals were MADE gay? That is, through heavy sexual abuse and/or some form of heavy childhood trauma.

I don't know how many of you guys listen to a radio show called LoveLine. It's hosted by an addiction medicine specialist (Dr Drew) and it's actually pretty popular. Anyway, Dr. Drew basically answers questions that pertain to sexuality, and he often receives calls from young gay people who are having trouble in their gay relationships. Before Drew replies to these questions, he often asks them if they have a sexual abuse history, and 90% of the time, they admit that they were molested as children.

Anyway, because of my interest of this radio show, it got me reading psychology materials and various studies.
Basically, I've discovered that as a result of heavy sexual abuse, the victim's sexual boundaries are completely destroyed, and their sexual identity is dramatically distorted. When this happens, the victim often finds himself/herself engaging in sexual acts that are considered abnormal by the rest of society (this can include bi-sexual activities, homosexuality, molesting children, and even raping/incest-related activities).

So here's my question: Is homosexuality mostly a result of sexual abuse?

I'm not saying that every gay person was a sexual abuse victim, I'm just saying there's a good possibility that homosexuality could be a result of sexual abuse.

Thoughts?
By the way, if there are any gay people in on this discussion, I'd really like to hear from them. I'm tired of heterosexuals speaking for homosexuals, so if any of you are out there, I'd like you to give me your opinion on my theory.

I heard sometime ago that geneticists had discovered a gene that effected a person's spirituality; a 'God gene' so to speak.

You're right to an extent. I believe there are gay people who choose to be that way, and there are people who are gay because of they are born gay.

What is interesting about the 'God gene' is that the early Christian gnostics believed that the select who were able to understand 'hidden knowledge' in Christianity believed that this understanding came from a 'Divine spark' that existed within the select. Almost sounds like genetics if you ask me.
