Why is it that now, since we are only 15 miles from Baghdad, that the French have become buddy buddy with us saying shit like, "We've been supporting you all along"? I'll tell you why: they want to invest and make profits in post-war Iraq. Let's tell these frog assholes to get their hands out of Iraq so we can restore it to a decent country without another European influence in it.

I don't think it is fair for France to join now, but it is probably the best thing for us to let France int he rebuilding. 1/3 people in France want Iraq to win the war. It may seem like a lot but it also means tha the majority of France supports us. We have been friends with France for so long, i dun't think it's a good idea to start a grudge. I think if they want to help in the rebuilding, we should let them.

Although I would love to be able to tell the "Axis of Weasels" where to go on this matter there is one problem. Tony Blair, he wants to include them. No, we don't work for him but he have been a great friend and ally and has got himself into a lot of hot water for his steadfast and eloquent support of us. We can't just leave someone like that high and dry.
PS. Hey Tony, if they do kick you out head over here. We need guys like you. We may not be able to make you President, but we will find something for you.

Exactly! They know that British and US forces are the people that are going to be restoring Iraq. Now they want a piece of the pie that they didn't even ask for.

Its all economics. France is worried about its oil that it gets from Iraq, and they are worried that if we control Iraq, they wont get it anymore, so of course those spineless bastards want a piece of the action now. The French are always there when they need us *L*.
I have no respect for France, they are international pushovers who are angry at America because they are the has beens and we are the current dominate world power.
So to hell with France, they shouldn't have anything to do with the re-construction of Iraq, neither should the Germans or the Russians or any other country who didnt risk anything for it. So to hell with them and I'm all for the US and Britian handling it.

I can just hear the French president saying, "Hey... sorry about all that stuff, ya know I never liked the french either. Screw the french!" I seems like the only people that dont like America's "world domination" is the big countries. Looks like somebody's jealouse!!!

Well, I can’t blame them. Iraq is going to be HUGE economy wise once we boot Saddam's ass out of there. Iraq is a pretty rich country and Saddam hasn't been really putting those assets to good use due to his own selfishness. Once Iraq is released from Saddam's grip, its economy will flourish. But yeah, don't cut in on a piece of our action France. It's like that old Kindergarten story about how the mother hen asked for all the other barnyard creatures to help her make her bread and they refused. Once she was done, they all wanted a piece of the bread, but she told them to fuck-off cause they didn't help make it. That story is so bad-ass.

There are financial rewards in Iraq, and I have no doubt that once this war is over, the US will be a major buyer of Iraqi oil. But the main reason for the war is, and always has been, to disarm Saddam Hussein. (Obviously, if he's out of power, then he doesn't have any weapons.) But once that job is done, Iraq will need to be rebuilt. Oil profits will probably cover that bill. Iraq will be rid of Saddam Hussein, and the oil money will go where it belongs: to the people. In the meantime, with war fears removed and with a new source of oil, prices should drop, which will tremendously help the American economy. It's not the main reason we're at war, but it is a nice bonus.
Should France have a role in the new Iraq? That's a good question. One of the reasons they opposed war is because they were worried about losing their existing oil contracts in Iraq. I personally think that France should be shut out. They did not risk anything to free Iraq, and thus should not reap any of the financial rewards of rebuilding it.

Exactly, I feel the same way. I don't respect the French pretty much for the same reasons. They didn't help so they shouldn't get anything. even though we have been friends with France for such a long time, Lets look at history, How much HAVE the French really helped in any battle or War and still got some of the pie.

The primary purpose of the normandy landings was to make sure that Hitler was defeated before the Russians could overrun europe, not the liberation of France. And in any case why should France HAVE to agree with everything the USA does?
