No order, all good people...
Linus Torvalds (see also Linux)
Albert Einstein (see also Modern Physics)
Ludwig van Beethoven (see also Musical Genius)
Ohh, and Nemesisz. I idolize anyone who can spend all day insulting people for fun, never knowing that his insults are often not nearly as witty as the person he insults.

Excluding religious figures and in no particular order:
Linus Torvalds
Frank J. Tipler
Walter E. Williams
Gen. Douglas MacArthur
Col. Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck
Gen. Alfred von Schlieffen
David Horowitz
There are probably more, but I can't think of them at the moment.

Yes. He formulated the strategy that would have led Germany to a quick victory over France and the war in general during World War I. Unfortunantly, he died before the war began and it was butchered by the Kaiser and his successor as chief of the Great General Staff, von Moltke.
If Germany had quickly won WWI, (as they should have), there would have been no rise of Hitler, WWII, the Holocaust, unrest in the Middle East, Russian Revolution, rise of communism, Vietnam, Korea, etc.
The demise of Imperial Germany spawned most of the greatest tragedies of this century.
