Where do you download this V-Cam everyone talks about. I've been trying to find out how to do a zoom in effect without tweening and ive come across lots of links to this. Where's the download for it on the page? There's only information about it :(

"The Vcam will appear in the authoring environment as a rectangle that defines the Vcam viewfinder. You can download the source FLA for this animation here. Note that if you test the FLA, you will see the best results if you publish to the browser blabla..."

I was expecting the 'V-Cam' to be an exe file that you install.. That's an FLA.

The V-cam is nothing but a movie clip in flash. It just a little rectangle with code. Download the fla, open it up, grab the v-cam out of the library and insert it to your movie.

I often wonder what if say 5 years later the Actionscript used in the V-cam becomes
Depreciated too much, making the animations that used it "broken".

Unblock Newgrounds at school or work.

I don't think _x and _y translations in AS2 will become deprecated any time soon...

Tween it getting smaller. With the v-cam what the v-cam is over is what you see.
Make sure its on a new layer.

Every Flash exported has a code chunk stating which version it was exported under. Every Flash Player contains the code to allow it to run at an obselete version of Flash Player as if it was the version the SWF was exported under.

Summary? Future Splash Animations will still run under Flash 9's Player with absolutely no problems. Hell, when Flash 9 is released, all you need to do is Publish under Flash 8's settings and you can use Flash 9 to use AS2 perfectly. Flash is one of the only backwards, forwards and cross compatable plugins on the entire Internet.

like fuzz said. It works the with opposite if you make te rectangle bigger than you're actually expanding the area it covers, since there's work area inside the rectangle it will look like you zoomed out, Similarly if you make the v-cam smaller, it's covering less space and it will make everything look bigger. just remeber the that what you see in the borders of the stage is what will up the entire stage
