I deleted all of your audio submissions because most of your originals were by Swingyouth from MP3.COM. I had talked to the guy from Swingyouth, and he said although you weren't affiliated with the band, we could leave the files on-line. When you started uploading other files by other bands, however, I had to draw the line and cut you off.

The Audio Portal is for ORIGINAL WORKS ONLY. If you submit stolen material and other users put it in their Portal submissions, it fucks up the whole system and makes it pointless.

Yeah, which is the same reason all my sound effects were deleted.

Did I just confess?

These componies dont get that, by seeing a commercial audio on an awesome flash movie will get them pumped, and would want to go out and buy the CD. BUT!!! Now it will get them pumped to go and download it off KaZaA. KaZaA cannot be shut down any time soon, because its server is over some where else...so it is harder for the US to fuck with it! JESUS! What is this shit coming to? I wish people would just fuck the fucking fuck off!!!!

Stuff I made myself, I mean.

tom, just out of curiousity...i know the cd labels are coming after the little guys right now, big bands and whatnot, but what about movie soundtracks/show soundtracks? obviously, they can if they wanted to...anyone can sue for anything these days, or at least put up the lawsuit for it. what i mean is...is it ok if we use shit like star wars songs in our movies, movies from tv shows, whatnot? i keep downloading songs from the audio portal and alot of them would be good as a preloader loop but i cannot find any songs that would fit my series. what i really mean is, if someone were to do say, a dbz movie, that had almost nothing about the actual show in it, and was a fanfiction and its own original story, but still had music from the show, would you still refrain from showing something like that? even if the credits gave props to bruce faulconer, the composer for all of the songs on the show? or is everyone picking on you, and not just record label companies? the only music that could fit my series is dbz music and i have it all composed, and some day, when the series is finally complete (its on the 4th episode now) that might someday be able to be put in the dbz parodies list...although...there are other ones in there with that music..do you mean youll refrain from showcasing it on the front page if it had commercialised music? can u explain which commercial songs we are talking about, and the range of bands these companies spread? can we use nonpopular songs?

--also i find it kind of ironic that these tycoons complain about artists having movies containing their titles, but has anyone tried to file anything over your assasin page, where you not only have their songs, but you kill the artists as well!

Any commercial audio is a potential problem. I just hope that over time, the Audio Portal will grow so much that you can find anything you are looking for. It won't grow unless people use it now, though... Flash artists and musicians have to both be proactive to make it work. :)

The guy from swingyouth is a friend of mine and he approved of me submitting to the site because it would give him some extra publicity. I submitted nothing by any band other than his.

Response to Audio Portal Credit System 2003-04-04 12:12:57

It is unimportant though. If he wants to resubmit his music he can create his own profile and do it himself. It is much easier that way and much less legally ambiguous.

Whatever the case, I would rather see the original artist receive direct credit.

Same here, buddy. Made a series using a lot of different artists work from the Audio Portal. It's good stuff.

UGH!!!......

If/when I start making movies, the last thing I would want is to be forced to use ameteur music/sound loops that is on every other movie on NG. It would kill individuality.

So, you'd use a popular audio track that could have been used on any number of commercials / publicity stunts / flash animations / etc, by any number of other industries / companies / animators / whatever? Nice thinking.

There are a number of animations in the Portal that all share the same audio tracks, all by commercial artists. And yet they're all individual, because they use the audio tracks in different ways.

to add my thought on the topic, i would have to say that i didnt realy care for it but u know others might like the people who are making flash movies and getting pissed becuase people are giving them bad reviews about them not having no music thats all.

no doubt think before you type is god advise... there is nothing worse than negtative attention towards whomever

Response to Audio Portal Credit System 2003-04-05 16:30:13

I think one of the issues that's going to come up with the audio portal is that alot of the higher quality animations on NG use film scores with intense purcussion and giant string sections. If I knew a string quartet that would be willing to record in my garage then I'd be really excited to do it. However I'm more likely to be hit in a terrorist attack...

Also I think if the audio portal is really going to take off the NG staff needs to really promote it as a good promotion tool for real bands from sites like MP3.com and Garagebands.com. No offense, but most of the material in the audio portal is pretty limited Fruityloops stuff right now...

P.S. RYOMA THANKS ALOT FOR USING MY AUDIO SUBMISSIONS YOU ROCK!

Ok, I am now working on geting all of my "many web pages som with crap memory but like 3gigs of band width and others with more memory.. but in gen lots of web sites and am now going to link them all together in a masive covert storige system, that is I don't want to pay so I will just retrofit hundreds of free pages into my own sorce of bandwidth and stuff.
<p>
by the way howmany alt url's can I put in? that and the movies arn't done yet. curent projects are over riding the movie, 1 finish fan sub of Legendary frog's kerrigan and ark stuff, 2 finish linking the memory of my web sights umm did I say that I mean finish linking them.. and make it posible for me to transfer my files to the thousands of people on newgrounds.
For the first bit of time after I make my projects, I will do what no one has done for me. That is having "good" flash editable files avalable to help others make "good" flash movies too, not that I do especaly good stuf my self right now.
<p>
Ok enuff about this, does any one know any good program to make high ress anime with that doesn't take as long as flash mx?

You keep saying that, but when the fuck are the musicians going to start suing us for using there shit? I doubt EVER! We need some rock music with words and shit! Not just some lame ass loops from the audio portal!
It has already begun on our end, and it is a huuuuge looming threat to the future of Newgrounds. They don't come after the artists - they come after us for hosting the material.

Does this mean that the only music that will be allowed in a flash game or movie will have to be from the audio portal and all outside audio will be restricted when submitting? If so I disagree with this whole thing although if you only gain credit for audio portal music/sfx then thats fine.

I have a quick question, and I am not sure if anyone else has brought it up already... If so, I apologize, if not here goes: Why don't you make the audio portal similiar to the template used for the flash portal? I would be more inclined to go check out songs there if they were rated like the flashes. Especially for low connection users, who want to find a good song for their flash file, but don't want to wade through all the bad songs. Just a thought.

You've got more problems that i do, oh man i should lay off this stuff oh boy!

Response to Audio Portal Credit System 2003-04-12 00:21:26

Heh, I think it would be awesome if NG had a kickass audio portal. It would also be cool if the audio portal had links to the author of the music or snd fx website where their entire works are able to stream.

Hah, i was going to submit something to the audio portal (I cant write flash worth a shit; i guess music is my forte) but the file i was going to submit was 1.2 kb over 500....grrr
Oh well
