News April Foolers Spin War Tales

April 1, 2003 — The unsuspecting could have been tricked into thinking the U.S.-led war in Iraq had taken a sudden surreal twist, as newspapers around the world spun bitter-sweet April Fool's reports about the conflict.
In South Africa the Afrikaans Beeld newspaper told its readers that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had accepted an offer of exile in the country in exchange for a top job running the country's oil industry. As part of the deal, Saddam would be offered a luxury game farm near the smoggy oil city of Sasolburg, the daily wrote.

i dont know if this applies to the topic, but some one told me that geroldo riveia was banned or asked to leave iraq because he gave away some troop locations.
Of course i was thinking maybe it was an april fools joke because why would u be such an idiot to give away ur troops locations.
is there any truth to this myth or joke, or is it real?

Someone was fired my CNN, NBC, and MSNBC for expressing anti-US sentiments while on site in Iraq.
I can't remember exactly who.

that was real! i saw the clip of Geraldo drawing out the battleplan for the 101st Infantry on camera. Talk about dangerous and extreme media coverage...

I can't remember exactly who.
That was Peter Arnett. In every major conflict since Vietnam he has always expressed very negative things towards the US and what it is trying to do. I was glad he was ousted. He now works at a British tabloid.

Yeah, that actually happened. I didn't think it was real the first time I heard about that either.
