Which do you prefer and why? Opinion is more valid if you've tried both.

I've never worn contacts before but I'm thinking of getting them because of comfort, better eyesight and better appearance. :) But there are some things that are making me hesitant. For one, it's more of a hassle because you have to clean it up every night and get new ones every few weeks or so. Also, I know there's higher risk of eye infections and other things that I'm not too keen on.

For those who have worn contacts, have you encountered any problems such as eye irritation, infection, etc.? I would like to think these happen very rarely.

Glasses gave me headaches because I would look at something without them and then put them on so it'd be like blurry, clear, blurry, clear all day and that wasn't cool. Then I stopped wearing them and walked around unable to see well. My parents finally let me get contacts and I was all like yay because I don't look good in glasses and I like being able to see. They take a day or so to get used to. Back when I first got them, I cleaned them every day, replaced the container, kept track of how long I wore them, etc. But now I don't even care. I sleep with them in, I forget to clean them, I don't change them until they stop working or start to hurt, etc. I haven't had any eye problems or anything yet, so I think you'll be fine. Another advantage of having contacts is that you can change your eye color if you feel like it.

Well I'd probably stick pretty close to the cleaning/schedule procedure for best safety... you only have two eyes afterall.

Another problem I heard was that if the weather is really dry or something then the contacts irritate you.

Also how hard would you say it is to get in/out?

I like contacts if I'm going out into the public but prefer glasses if I'm at home. Contacts get a little irritating and that's why.

Contacts are not comfortable. At least not untill you've worn them alot.

better eyesight

As far as I'm aware they're less effective than glasses.

and better appearance. :)

This is the only real reason you would want to wear contacts, unless you just find glasses annoying or impractical.

But there are some things that are making me hesitant. For one, it's more of a hassle because you have to clean it up every night and get new ones every few weeks or so.

You get packs of them, you don't have to go out and buy more for long periods of time.
You can get hard contacts which you never throw away, normal contacts which last maybe a week or so, and daily contacts which you throw away after use.

Also, I know there's higher risk of eye infections and other things that I'm not too keen on.

You're unlikely to get an infection unless you do things like not washing your hands before putting them in; not cleaning them properly ect.

For those who have worn contacts, have you encountered any problems such as eye irritation, infection, etc.?

No not really, it's just goddamn fucking hard to get the things in and out of your eye.

I'll probably try them again at some point...

I prefer glasses since they are no hassle and they don't bother me at all. I wear them from the time I wake up to the time I sleep or until I take a shower.

One person I know said he had it for several months, and at the start it took him like 2 hours to put it in but now it only takes 2 seconds. Maybe you didn't try it for long enough?

I got very frustrated and decided it wasn't worth the effort.

I suppose it's a question of motivation/persistence.

Which are worse for your prescription? Glasses or contacts? Probably contacts, right? Because they sit right on your eye and you don't take them off as much.

I've had contacts for over 2 years, and not one infection, they wont irritate you unless you sleep in them.

I hate both--
Contacts has the advantage of changing your eye colors but they are harder to use than the no-color contacts.

I have very dark brown chocolate eyes--
lightest I went down: light brown. (Thought that blue, green, hazzle would make me look weird.)

Defenitely gave me a different look for a while... sorta made me look racially ambigious too.

That's funny. I don't care about changing eye color though... Someone please answer my questions.

Well, I have glasses now. I don't need them all the time. Only when I drive or need to see the board in school if I sit in the back. I used to have contacts, but I didn't like messing with them. If you don't need them all the time, get glasses. If you need them all the time, I'd go with the contacts.

I tried contacts for the first time three years ago. They took me awhile to put in, but I quite enjoy them.

I find my vision gets better, as my vision expanded on both sides (I have terrible eyesight, I can't see a darn thing outside the rim of my glasses) My contacts last about four months until I have to get new ones, but it really depends per person; each eye is different, each eye has a different level of dryness. Mine are particulary moist, so I can wear contacts for long periods of time.

It's really hard to get solid objects stuck between your eye and contact, and if it hurts, I don't recommend wearing them. Just get a new pair or clean them.

I like contacts, because I don't have to worry about loosing them if I smash into someone, or have glasses frame imprinted on my face if I fall asleep in class. Contacts aren't hard to loose, just don't rub your eye (even so, then it's probably time to clean them)

It takes four good hours of cleaning till they're ready to go.

I recommend trying out contacts to see how your eyes work with them. Also, glasses are just cute.

I started wearing contacts in 6th grade but quit for a couple years because they irritated my eyes too much but a couple years ago I started wearing them again and I got the soft kind which really helps since I can barely feel them.

The only way your eyes get irritated is if you don't clean them right and get something on them like a small hair.

I assumed she meant leaving them in their case with the cleaner for at least 4 hours.

Contacts of course. With glasses, you have to clean them all the time, and you look like a nerd.
Without contacts, I wouldnt be this damn hot =D

No, I've never had any problems, and I've worn them for 3 years. Just make sure you clean them every night before you go to sleep and replace them every time that you're supposed to(with some brands it's 2 weeks, with others it's 1 month) and you'll be ok.

By far, I like contacts because they make me look better. The only significant cons for them is that they can irritate. On the other hand they give me full range view with no cleaning. Glasses can be removed quickly though.

I haven't been able to try contacts, I would love to get some though, just being able to see everything that is normal around the rim of my glasses would be a great change.

I've been wearing glasses for about 10 years now and I usually wear contacts when I'm going out but recently I've just decided to wear contacts all the time.

I just got sick of wearing glasses for some reason.

I heard there were different ways of cleaning them... some have solutions which you simply have to put the contacts in every night to clean them. Does anyone know why some people use the other method -- is the solution only available for certain types of contacts or something?

I get calcium deposits on my contacts (or I did) so I've stuck with glasses ever since.

If it weren't for that issue, I'd probably wear contacts, especially now that accidentally sleeping in them isn't the huge omfg that it used to be. That was the only horrid thing about contacts, was forgetting to take them out and then having to pry your eyes open in the morning to try and take them out. :(((

You should have a chat with madmonkey27 about hydraclear, because apparently you can wear them for a month without taking them out. That's pretty awesome.
