Am I the only one who believes that with all the racial and minority laws, whites are being descriminated against. I mean, take a look at Mish. University, whats the deal with that? Anyway, I want to get your opinion on affirmative action and other laws that descriminate whites.
Honestly, I am against affirmative action, but I'm not racist. If I were an employer, I would hire anyone of any sex or race as long as they were good to work with and made me money. Case closed....or maybe not.

Well, if you consider things like Caucasian students not being accepted at certain universities than I can understand your resentment, but you must understand, these places have the right to run their establishment in any manner they see fit.

So, would you say that affirmative action is unconstitutional and employees should be able to hire whoever they like (all white, all asian, etc.)?

Well, there's a difference between hiring someone to fit an image of that establishment and just being racist. Freedom is a two-way street and people have those rights.

But they shouldn't be able to discriminate based on things that people can't choose, such as sex, skin colour, race, etc.
They should be able to on religion, political beliefs, because those are only opinions, and changed easier than underwear.

Well yes, but I'm not talking about businesses altogether. I'm also talking about things like non-profit organizations and such.

All white is an image of an establishment do you support that?

I think that the only way to fairly deal with race is to not consider it. It should be utterly and totally ignored and universities should not even be informed of an applicants race.

Agreed.
And to the person who said that the institution should decide who they want to admit and who not to, private universities should have that right (there are still all-women schools), but public ones should admit anyone who qualifies based on academic achievement. This means no quotas.
