The government lies, and then the civilians lie to get the government to NOT lie, and on, and on,...
Please stop lieing! This will be the hardest for me, of all people, but stop lieing! This isn't some christian "lieing is a sin" rant, but if everyone shuts up or says nuttin but the truth, then the government will be able to do its job and not get concerned over which politician screwed which under-aged minor and why!

Everyone talks about it, my whole life long, but nobody ever convinced me lying itself is wrong.

I believe that if we are living so far away from the truth that the government has to lie to us (we are in the politics section) concidering we are not ready for the truth then it is a big mistake of the government as the public has the right to know the truth and if their is such problem then it is essential that the population will be aware so that they can react according to the situation.
However i think it's impossible to stop lying. Firstly because people will always lie as it is sometimes easier than telling the truth. And secondly because some lies are necessary.

Doesn't a lie really depend on the persons view of the truth? An Atheist thinks that god is a lie, but a Evangelist thinks that is a lie. No matter what you say someone will think it's a lie, people are annoying like that.

Lying is a personal thing. You can't persuade other people not to lie, its just a decision people have to make for themselves.

I know this may be cliche but, someone who lies often is only lying to themselves. A person who lies alot has no integrity and only has to make up for their own deficiencies by taking the easy way out and lying to paint the picture that they are different from how they really are.

Everyone lies, but people who lie obsessively for their own gain just irritate me. Especially when it is obvious as hell.

I agree however the case of religion, as a "truth" cannot be provided with the support of factual evidence in this case, so atheists and believers are in fact not stating the "truth" but what they conceive as being the truth. So in this case it can be considered more like an opinion than a truth.

Lies can also be the product of an unprepared mind. We aren't 100% positive all the time, every day of our lives, but I'm sure most of us onlige eachother in things we're not sure of. Stealth described the relationships as best as I could imagine this particular topic could have been.
