You know, normally I'd be on the side of someone against police using force when a situation like this comes up, but this guy was obviously trying to make some sort of protest scene at the library. I don't know about you, but if I was trying to study at the university library (for classes that I'm paying shitloads of tuition to take) and some douche came in and started making such a scene that campus security had to throw him out, then the police had to show up and the guy started screaming and yelling out his fucking political ideology and making and even bigger louder scene than before, I'd be pissed off at the guy, not the cops.

He was trying to leave peacefully, but a security officer grabbed his arm. Even if he was screaming at the top of his lungs, using a Taser would not have been the correct solution. Do you honestly think that more of a scene will be made if you quietly escort him out of the building (if you can't allow him to leave by himself in the first place) than if you shock him with an extremely painful and paralyzing electric current every 5 seconds while telling him to stand up? The guy might have been an ass; the police were inhuman monsters.

When they grabbed his arm, he started yelling and went limp. He went limp and started trying to haul the officers down before they used the taser on him.
Seriously, this guy was being a douchebag. If he could have kept his head and remained calm, nothing would have happened, but he had to flip out.

Yeah, he flipped out because the security officer grabbed his arm while he was trying to leave peacefully. That was a mistake. However, what transpired after that incident was ghastly and revolting. The police officers repeatedly shocked him while he was helplessly lying on the ground, screaming in agony. It was a vile, disgusting, sadistic act. It's a disgrace that something so evil could happen in America. Now, I'm not trying to say that the kid is Jesus; he's not, he erred when he flipped out on the security officer. However, his slight transgression pales in comparison to the moral abhorrence of the act committed by the police officers. I would certainly hope that we cannot torture college students (without a trial, I might add) in this country because they're being somewhat aggressive.

That doesn't seem like abuse at all to me. You're just trying to overjustify the student's position-- but he was obviously trying to provoke trouble. The police did not tase him for 5 seconds, as you claim, and when they initially told him to stand up they were trying to pull him up. You can see them trying to lift him to his feet, but he refuses to actually stand. He is obviously being just the kind of little ass that police hate to deal with, and he wasn't doing anything willingly.
If he was high-strung enough to scream "GET OFF OF ME!" when the police tried to escort him out, he was a troublemaker. Plus, the video is pretty inconclusive on most of it because of bad angles or no line of sight.

It's seems to be, judging by the way the guy acted, that he did not have a heart condition. He was just some pussy that wanted to cause a scene after he was asked to leave.
The police weren't in a very good mood either, you can tell by the threats and attitude they had. And tasering is an illogical thing to do given the situation, it's still in their power to do so. Just saying though, the student comes off as a bigger ass than the police tasering him, and that says something.

Actually, the police do not have the right to torture somebody for "being an ass." At the very least, the police officers are going to be fired for their actions, if more serious action is not taken. Personally, I'm hoping for a lengthy jail sentence.

Tasering somebody is not torture, and it's a HELL of a lot more humane than being maced or being beaten into submission. The guy was disturbing the peace, and refusing direct orders from both campus security and the local authorities, I don't care how you spin it.

More than likely our little college hero will wind up being somebody's new girlfriend for a few hours, and he'll get community service and some fines, and that will be the end of it.

Begoner's totally right. They had NO fucking right to touch him, NO fucking right to taze him, AND NO fucking right to try to stop him when he said he was leaving. He was calm, and cool and even said he was going to leave in peace! Jeez, you assholes just don't get it do you? That guy was leaving in peace, minding his own business. Then the PRICKlice (police) came in and grabbed his arm. I mean, what the hell? Of course you say, "get off me". It's like getting your hand burned. It's a natural reaction to say that. Imagine if some big, probably gay male was trying to grab your hand. You wouldn't say: Please continue touching me. You would take his arm off or back away. God, GET IT THROUGH YOUR HEADS THAT HE DID NOTHING WRONG.

(1) You're going on the assumption that you wouldn't be in handicuffs, which is kind of stupid because if they're going to tazer you then you can bet you're about to be arrested and thrown in jail to begin with.
(2) Assaulting an officer with a weapon is a felony and carries a (last I checked) maximum of 10 years in federal prison and a quarter of a million dollar fine, life if you kill the officer in question. It also authorizes the officer/s to defend themselves by any means neccesary, so I hope you enjoy spending two months in intensive care for gunshot wounds BEFORE being shipped off to prison because you felt the need to assert your manilness.

I'd like to see you get up after being repeatedly stunned with Tasers. In case you don't know, those things have caused paralysis for as long as 15 minutes (some have caused death). Do you honestly think that he could get up after beating mercilessly beaten? Did you here the part where he said "I'M NOT FIGHTING"? They were sadistic bastards who were torturing him for the fun of it, and I don't care how you spin it.

Let us look up the definition of "assault" in the California penal law handbook. Here we are: "an assault is an unlawful attempt, coupled with a present ability, to commit a violent injury on the person of another." Apparently, writhing on the ground in agony is not assault -- what do you know?

Very few. It's quite uncommon, but it has happened. I think it was around 10.

Did you here the part where he said "I'M NOT FIGHTING"?
That's all you've got to go on with that video; audio. From what I've seen of the video on the news, I can't tell if he's struggling or not because there's NOT ENOUGH FUCKING LIGHT.

Okay, spin it that way. I still support their actions.

That was in response to what ScottishCunt said about beating the officers as they escorted him from the building if he was in that situation, not what this college student did.

So you think that it's OK for a police officer to play Russian roulette with the student, as long as he gets lucky and doesn't die? Just because no long-term damage was inflicted does not justify the heinous actions of the police officers. No, they should not have reasonably expected that he would die; however, they were well-informed that the Tasers would cause excessive pain.
That's all you've got to go on with that video; audio. From what I've seen of the video on the news, I can't tell if he's struggling or not because there's NOT ENOUGH FUCKING LIGHT.
All the student witnesses side with the student; they claim that he was not attacking the police officers in any way. You can clearly see on the video that they were telling him to stand up, and then zapping him when he couldn't. That's cruel beyond reason.

It's because of fat sadistic DICKFACES like you who don't understand what it means when people say "I'm not fighting you" or "I'm leaving this place". If you can't understand that, it means that those stupid ass student aids called them for NO reason. He was leaving, he meant no harm, and DID NOT neglect orders. If you mean by orders to stand up after getting tazed in the ASS, then you're a fucking kumquat.

Look, I'm sorry if I was a little strong on my last post. What I'm NOT sorry for is that you say the police had a right to tazer him. The video shows it all. It basically proves my point and begoner's. The evidence shows that he meant no harm, got punished for nothing, and getting dragged out. ONLY to find out that he got arrested, then got sent free. There's your FUCKING AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS AT WORK.

Yes.
THe police were justified and no serious harm was done, so regardless of what you and elecmonkey say, nothing's gonna change. The student provoked the officers and triggered the incident, and that's that.

THe police were justified
Based on what? You can't torture someone just because he was being impolite. The student did not use violence or force in any way whatsoever -- he simply shouted when the police officer grabbed his arm.
