I am really amazed that there are some people who are against the legalization of cannabis.

Here are some links that I think should be visited:

www.norml.org = legalization advocates. A VERY informative article:

Marijuana legalization topic here k

let's face it.. there are just always gonna be ppl who when choosing between "saving the planet", and by consequence, "allowing a few hippies their private pleasure" would still choose neither.

Any logical American economist should see the massive potential in marijuana though.

Historian or Futurologist, maybe.

Eco-economist, definately.

In theory, yes.

In practise, ie. those with considerable vested interests in the status-quo. Sadly not.

That's the killer in the US. I can't see us attaining and using a substitute for gasoline due in part to the same reason.

I am against any move to legalize Marijuana to any degree. It's like throwing a bucket of salmonella bacteria into a giant pig-feeding trough-- and you should know what kind of effect that would have.

I refuse to be backed into the classic defensive position in these types of discussions. Justify your position and I'll show you how it's wrong.

I think they should legalize marijuana. I also think they should outlaw tobacco use. Which is odd considering I don't like to smoke pot and I do smoke cigarettes.

Ok, first of all, your analogy makes little to no sense. Second of all, it's easy enough to say that the war on drugs is cutting off your nose to spite your face, especially for marijuana. Something that has very little harm on society is costing your country an unfathomable amount of money to investigate and incarcerate people who have committed a victimless "crime"

I refuse to be backed into the classic defensive position in these types of discussions. Justify your position and I'll show you how it's wrong.

A) Aforementioned waste of money and resources.
B) Hemp. It can be used to make (ridiculously durable) textiles, plastics, fuels, and so on. This is why marijuana was initially made illegal, because it was a threat to textile and petrochemical industries, so they launched a campaign about the horrible dangers of the drug, while calling it "marihuana" so people wouldn't realize that they were trying to make hemp illegal.

To legalize cannabis would be the greatest thing to ever happen EVER. It would be so glorious a day that i would come close to death in such an over whelming burst of joy. It would seem that pot is truly the shit and i would die in a war if it were to legalize pot. Because thats how fuking important cannabis is to this planet , EVEN MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE TREES!And any one that whishes to impede upon this sacred plant shall be shat upon by God at the gates of heaven when u shall die.

Nearly everyone smokes pot at one time or another in their lives. There's only a few people who really end up focusing their lives around it.

To overdose on marijuna, you need to smoke 15 pounds, in 15 minutes. It is physically impossible to kill you, or even overdose on.

The simple truth is that nearly every politician has their heart set against the legalization of weed. People who smoke on a regular basis also have this anti government mentality and as a result fail to go to the polls and vote.

The majority of people in government power will never condone the use of weed since it would end up hurting them in the polls more then it would help them.

That's not an issue of marijauan use, that's an issue of what leading scientists are now calling "a brain full of stupid"

If you legalize one the other one would have to be legalized because they look so much alike. If one were legal and not the other many people growing the legal one could be bothered by government officials thinking it is the illegal one.

How nice that they now dumb-it-down so that those afflicted can know what it means.

I think the scientific term is "un-remedial temporal-lobe synaptic incohesion". Thus we can see why there's frequent confusion between the slang terms "dope-head" vs "sponge-head".

Why should I be denied the use of marijuana just because there's stupid people who overuse it until they harm themselves? Anything in too great a quantity will ultimately hurt you, and for any given substance, there's always going to be people who use it to the point that it hurts them, be it marijuana, alcohol, Mcdonalds, or Diablo 2.

With that logic, the fact that some people have eating problems should render food illegal.
