I know most of you guys in this forum hate when people ask how to program but I'm taking serious thought into learning how to make my own software, not just games, not just html, but all types of software. I don't know the difference between C++, Java, vb, actionscript and all the other types of programming I've heard of but I was wondering if there are any websites or possibly good books any of you could recommend for me to understand computer language.

I plan on taking courses in college and I kind of want a head start because my highschool was a jock highschool with really lame networking classes and beginner html classes and its no fair I'm out in the dark like this.

And I wanted to know if anyone could tell me where I can figure out how the hell to use Paintshop Pro -.- ( I want to get into gfx as well).
