English is a combination of Latin and Indigenous Languages throughout the UK (or Celtic speak), and at the recession of Rome, which was when the language began to flourish, the barbarians that were kicked out of the area (that lived above Hadrians wall, hence northern) came back and the rest is history.

Prisons have been around for hundreds of years. I doubt every countrys prison system is based on the american one. Might be though.

When the Romans left. The Britons payed for germanic tribes (saxons, angles an jutes) to help them fight the scots but the germanics turned on the Britons and invaded what is modern day england. then a little later came the vikings and then the normans.

Very few gaelic words have entered the english language.
It's Germanic but also has influenced from other languages.
Anyway its still all europe.

All i'm saying is Americans are european. You may live on a different contininent but apart from that you are essentially european.

Americas much more similar to Britain than Britain is to continental europe, as is mexico much more similar to spain more than spain is to germany. Theres differences between european countries and little differences between european countries and there 'new 'world' countries. But it's nothing like the difference between our culture and indian culture.

Thats exactly the sort of reason why people think americans are arrogant. You didn't bail us of WW2. If anyone truly saved Britain in WW2 It was Britain. And maybe Russia. By the Time america had entered the war the battle of Britain had been won and the huge majority of the Nazi's were at the eastern front. And Hitlers plans to invade Britain had been stopped.

In WW2 Russia, Britain and America were equally important to the victory.

Like I said earlier The huge amount of american personal in western europe after the war most likely stopped the soviets taking europe. So if anything the USA saved europe from Russia. But because America joined the war last apparently america won it.
And Britain wasn't on the brink of destruction when america entered the war. When America entered the war the Battle of Britain was won and Britian was carriing out extensive bombing in germany. And Russia was slowly pushing the nazi's back from the eastern front. So already Hitler was on the losing side.
