Why do you keep posting topics like this? Are you a troll or something? Here you go again, grouping everyone from a certain nation together like we don't each have our own opinions- look at the way people bicker here. You're confusing our government with our people, and that's a serious misjudgement.

Think again
You complain about nazi jokes saying " hitler killed hundreds of children you should be ashamed of what you're saying"
Americans had concentration camps too. Now shut up.
What about the japanes concentration camps? It's not well know but during WWII when japan attacked Hawaii many japanese were rounded up and put into concentration camps. It was a very dangerous time to be japanese then. I'm luck my grandpa never got sent into one of them.

The Japanese American internment camps in the US were nothing like the Nazi death camps. Also, the US government has apoligized multiple times and has paid well over a billion dollars in reparations. Thus, I do not see how it contributes to American arrogance.

Thank you.
I'm sick of hearing "We're the most powerful nation in the world," "our president is the most poweful man in the world," "our economy is the best in the world," "We have the best (insert word here)." Americans just can't stop boasting about how good they think they are.
"think"? Last I checked, the UN was based in New York, we invaded 2 countries in a matter of months, and our foreign policies have a direct effect on whatever country you live in. That's called REALITY bub.....
This is partly why they are one of the most hated and isolated nations in the world.
Hated? Maybe. Isolated? Not a chance.
They only have like 3 Major Allies; UK, Australia and Canada! LOL.
Germany, Japan, France, Israel, South Korea.......the list goes on
Compare that to Germany; France, Italy, UK, Russia, Spain, etc... (all Europan nations)
Wow. US alliances compared to Germany....well done sir, you've just made me lose all respect for Aussies....
The US might be a powerful country, but they don't have many allies... In fact they have more enemies than Allies, even China has taken a dislike to the US.
Are you.....are you serious?
The fact is that the US is just one powerful ship sailing through rough seas...
Actually, if you wanna make that comparison, it's more like several Juggernaughts commanding the rough seas.
And if they continue to abuse their priviledges, they will sink.
All good things must come to an end.
They might be greater than any one country, but they're nowhere near as great as the rest of the world. They should stop acting as if they were king of the world because there is no such thing.
You know, you're totally right! In fact, I'd like to refer you to this thread which I believe will address all your vast theories of US perceived hegemony.

Well, we are are the only nation thus far to prove we have the balls to launch a nuclear attack. Everyone else just talks the talk. Which is probably one of the only reasons we are as powerful as we are today.

Dude, that is nothing to brag about. When you say that you not only disgrace all of those killed in the nuclear blasts, but every single person who has ever had to actually worry about being nuked themselves.

Penecillin

So your "most of" consists of 2 items. And it was still a Scot that invented them regardless you belittleing cock. And before you go believeing that it was your lot that invented 'leccy and computers, go research. The greeks and Babylonians knew about it first, and modern harnessable electricity was pioneered by:
Luigi Galvani - an Italian
Alessandro Volta - another Italian
Michael Faraday - Englishman
André-Marie Ampère - A Frenchman
Georg Ohm - A German
Frankiln and Edison I hear you cry. One a researcher that laid the way for the above to create modern electricity, the other an inventor that built upon the established concept.
Count it.

Not well known? I remember being taught this basic fact SEVERAL TIMES during my school career, as well as the treatment the Japanese received from whites prior (their houses were painted "Go Home Japs" and many were forced out of their businesses prior to the internment, for instance). Considering that I lived in several different states and was taught this same bit of information (one of those was California, so it went even more in depth) I would suggest that your idea that it wasn't a well known fact is flawed.
Also, if your grandfather didn't live on the West coast, he wouldn't have been in a camp. The US didn't intern all Japanese people, only those people who lived about west of the border of Utah. Only those Japanese who lived on the West coast were incorrectly deemed "dangerous"; so the idea that your grandfather was "lucky" wasn't necessarily luck if he didn't live in the designated area.

I cannot be blamed for Bush, I wanted Gore, then I wanted Clinton to come back. I still want Gore and Clinton, and when do we boast that? It's not like Bush has ever said that, i think i heard him say something along the lines of we're one of the most powerful countries in the world and it's our job to help others, which America does, i dont see Canadia helping nobody. I've never heard of any other country giving more than America, we put others before ourselves. It's not Americas fault we're so powerful, we're just good at losing less troops and money in wars.

hahaha what a bunch of asnine If it wasnt for us Europe would have been under nazi control for a while and cause a lot more trouble if america didnt interfere all of europe would have been fucked because France was fighting for the same land as the first war. and Britan kept the nazis out for a while but they couldn't do it forever could they?
plus if america didnt interfere the UN would not be established.

Can you qualify this? Have you run intricate computer simulations to find out how long Britain could have held out againt the nazis? Were an island. The only concieveable problem would have been supplies of food. Were an island - easy to defend.
Anyway, Im getting sidetracked. All I can say is that the above post from this dante person serves only as a great highlight to the topic title. You did not fight in WW2. Times change. Cause the US was so great for coming to the rescue then, doesnt mean its still the dogs bollocks today!

So no, you shut up.
Penicilin is mould. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to let bread go mouldy. If Flemming refined it into penicilin, then the local pyhsician would have been able to, given instructions. So mass distribution is not needed. Whats your view anyway? That it all comes out of one central factory somewhere?
The Sean Connery thing is a joke, get a fucking sense of humour. Connery wasnt invented by a Scotsman. Although he is quite a gift to the world.
Anasthetics are not all produced in one fucking factory. Small scale production!
And my main point:
It was still a Scot that invented all these things, you belittling cock!
FYI, I never told you to shut up, I told you to count it. Apparently youre to dense to do that right.

No Britain couldn't hold them of forever, but thankfully Britain held them off until Russia joined the war and then all the nazi's moved to the eastern front. Then Britain And america (and canada) liberated western europe.
America didn't save europe from the nazi's paticually, It was a joint effort between russia the commenwealth an the US, howether America probably did save europe from the soviets due to the mass amount of american troops stationed in europe after the war. And america didn't save Britain from the Nazi's or the soviets.

What people here who accuse us (the US) of gross mass murder with the firebombings of Tokyo and Dresden:
The combined casualties of these firebombings is, according to current estimates, 125,000. That sounds like a lot- that's the size of most mid-sized cities. An entire town, wiped off the face of the earth from two firebombings.
It's spit in the fucking ocean.
The combined casualty numbers of World War Two, Allied and Axis, is around 62 million people. The deaths at Dresden and Tokyo make up .2% of that total number.
Do not think that Axis civilians are the ones who suffered the most in the war. Axis civilian deaths represent 5% of the total. Allied civilian deaths make up a whole 50% of the total deaths. China, the Soviet Union, and Poland all lost more civilians than Germany and Japan combined.
The Axis countries got off incredibly easy. Unlike Japan or Germany, the Allied powers did everything in their power to prevent massive loss of civilian life, barring the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (which, apart from being civilian centers, were important military factory complexes as well- many people seem to forget this fact). The Axis countries had to be shaken back into reality; they were dealing with the utter annihilation of their countries. They were in no position to make demands.
"But the Americans destroyed tons of industry, leaving people homeless and jobless!!"
Yeah, until the war ended. You honestly have to read up on the Marshall Plan. After World War II, the United States gave 13 billion dollars (equivalent to 130 billion today) in economic and technical aid to the countries of Europe. We already spend billions during the war, and now we were spending more to repair Europe. Without that, the continent would have languished in destruction and poverty, open to the threat of Communism. Which I'm sure you all would have loved (/end sarcasm).
In Japan, American occupation was much the same as the Marshall Plan. We assisted in the rebuilding of the nation, the technical assistance, and industry construction. That's why they make so much good shit today.
America, though arrogant, has a legacy of trying to make amends. Maybe that's why we're arrogant. The rest of the world has a habit, after wars, of bleeding the losing nations dry, leaving them to wallow in the rubble of their land.

The way I see it, If those two Bombs hadn't been dropped on Japan. America an the Soviets would't of know the real power of the weapons, and would of used them against each other.
Nuclear bombs had to be used in anger sometime in history and better when they were not as powerful and there wasnt many of them than later when theres was thousands 100 times more powerful.
Allied Area Bombing took many more lives than the Nuclear bombs.
Also It was Total war, therefore everything which could be done to cripple the enemy was done.

Yeah, I'm really impressed with that list. Germany & France have put aside their differences only to advance their own power and prestige. France, Germany and the UK are the ones who are responsible for much of the problems in the world. European colonization was the cause of Vietnam, African instability and a shattered Middle East (ok...W. Wilson had a little to do with that).
Italy & Spain was a minor player in the Colonial drama...but only in the modern era. Starting in the 1400s they were responsible for numerous genocides in the American hemisphere...
Russia...yeah they've been very humble in how they've conducted themselves in the Eurasia...
The US might be a powerful country, but they don't have many allies... In fact they have more enemies than Allies, even China has taken a dislike to the US.
No one really has allies in the international arena. When it comes down to it each country is out for their own best interests. China is competing with India for the title of world superpower when American and Western supremacy declines as it will eventually...
The fact is that the US is just one powerful ship sailing through rough seas... And if they continue to abuse their priviledges, they will sink. There will always be a country that sits at the apex of international power. Europe tore the world apart in their competitions to sit in this seat.
And also all those countries you mentioned have a much longer history of abusing their priviledges than the US...

It is also responsible for your 'great' country.

It's different but no more so than Britain is to France, No it's less then the differece between Britain and France.
America only became a world player after WW2, if you look at Americas brief history, theres Wars with your bordering countries over land and power, theres colonisation, wars with native people and taking land which isn't rightly yours, Slave trade and racism.
All of which sadly makes your country as evil and european as the rest of our countries.
To be honest it's not Europeans who fucked up the world its just human nature. Europeans have just been the top civilisation for over 1000 years therefor we fucked it up the most.

Prisons have been around for hundreds of years. I doubt every countrys prison system is based on the american one. Might be though.
