Don't use an <iframe> they aren't valid and look crap. Just let it stretch down the page, or use a fixed height and width <div> along with 'overflow:scoll;'.

The background needs colour, set it to the colour of the bottom pixel of the background image, this will stop it from becoming white once the image finishes.

Change the font colour from black to something #CCCCCC+. You need the font to be paler on a dark background

Try and include some of the red from the background into the design, in a minimalist style.

I've learnt that people now a days what super graphical high tech looking sites more than anything else, take most of newgrounds for example, or flashindustries or many other photoshop sites. They are all very graphical and thats what people like. Go for more colours and better graphics, and content. Content makes a huge difference to the site.

ok, i've got rid of the iframes and that makes it look a lot better, you were right, i've also fixed the background and changed most of the font.

i just need to try and incorporate some red in now.

content wise i already have a flash arcade site, themyth.org.uk and this site is an extra one im building just for my stuff so i'm working on building up content.

cheers, torchwood is on tv now so i continue after

I completely disagree, heard of web 2.0?

When the internet first became mainstream people began designing sites that were techy, and had wires, and other "computer" like parts to them. Now that people are used to the internet websites are becoming more simplistic, like deviantart, google, wikipedia etc.

I'm not saying all websites are simple, there are websites that are heavily graphical which work very well, but they're not in a tech style.

Maxxist, the site looks a lot better now, good job!

I personally don't like the background.

Trying to look at the stuff in the middle is painful on the eyes. It's just way too bright of a background to go with something black.

Change the bright red in the background to dark red. That color is just awful.

Maxxist, it looks alright at the moment, like another guy said though, you should make it fill the screen and have a decent looking banner.
Then make image buttons instead of just plain text.
Using iFrames is only really a good idea when with a big template so people can easily read with no trouble and it doesn't have that awful lagging of scrolling down a massive image.
I've made a few websites in the past for other people so i know what i'm talking about :)

ok i'e changed to a subtler background, however i don't think i have enough content to make the page fill the screen. This page is meant more as a means of presenting my work rather then a user site, i have my other page for that.

banner? personnaly i like my banner but if theres is any particular points about it i would be happy to hear them

CHEERS, i much aperciate all this :D

Everything looks fine, my only advice would be to just do your own thing and not put so much belief in the ideas of people on the forums. If you ever want to make something original you have to break away from the mainstream.

it all looks fine. The only thing I'd recomend would be to declare fonts in your style.

Typography is kinda bland and is very aliased make the text somewhat larger to avoid that. 12 words per line is pushing is as it is hard for users to find thier place again, perhaps work on orgainzing your sections alittle better you have links to where you can play movies in your news sections. I understand the fact that they are new but maybe tell the users where they could go, or just have one link to direct them to a page. Maybe think about creating an inverted "L" layout where you have the primary Links on the top (home, links, and ect.) and the secondary information on the left or right. (Contact, About, ect.) Also I think the color scheme could be improved the red and gray seems a bit bland, and could be swapped out with complimentary colors such as red and green or different shades of red or gray.

Your webpage looks pretty sweet. I don't like the pink background though. Where do you get a .org website? Do you have to pay or what?

The middle doesn't match the background at ALL. The center section is pretty good, although I think that you should have either have actual pictures of the different movies, OR an "onMouseOver" line to show a small image of the movie.

Pros:
- It's centered!
- The header is pretty good, but too small (just like the rest of the site)
- The color scheme is fairly good (except for the background and that purplely color I would stick to grey or white... If you want to add a different color, you shoudl change the colour of your text to match the sceme)
- The alignment is quite good

Cons:
- It's WAY too small. A website should be at least 500px wide.
I find that 800 is best (depends on what you're looking for though)
- The background! EWWWWW, that is one of the worst backgrounds I have EVER seen on any site... And I've probably seen at least 100,000 in total... yours is in the bottom 10. The ULTIMATE rule with backgrounds is to keep them as simple as possible. Never put predominant colors or patterns as your bg, use less-noticeable colors that will blend in with the rest of your site.
- There is a space between the header, the menu and the main content, remove it... Or at least change that background so that it will appear to blend in.

Don't use Times New Roman. That's like... 1990's internet.

Give it some breathing room. Look at digg. Look at http://www.webcreme.com. Those are where the web is going these days, but you don't have to copy anyone. Just notice how these sites guide your eye and make everything function in a logical manner.

And listen to Zach. He's the man.

you should have a colour scheme, for example newgrounds (yellow and grey) or my site (blue and grey).
I should make your site a bit better

I sugest you center the banner or more of it if you feel like it

<center>"Current HTML"</center>

It should make it look more profesional.

You need padding on content areas, and a better colour scheme. Simple whites and light greys look good, along with a shade of red blue or green, it's simple but it makes your site like much better.

I never intend to be mean, but that color scheme is really bad.

Unless it's your intent, you want the colors to welcome people, ease their eyes, and attract them to your stuff. If you use pukey colors that don't really interact with each other well, your visitors are going to be bothered.

Check this out:
http://www.steeldolphin.com/color_scheme.html

You can generate color schemes on that site. They don't take the biggest risks, but if you can get good looking simple schemes, you'll be able to experiment with greater success.

Good luck!
