I highly recommend you all thank a war veteran somewhere. Even if you're not from the US, please thank a war veteran from your country today. Unless, of course, your government is really Nazi-ish and all your soldiers do is torture and oppress people.
Now, let's not get into anything too political, I would just like to thank any US veteran for protecting our country, whether you have fought in Iraq, Vietnam, or Germany, I would like to extend a warm thank you to all of those who have protected our freedoms and rights. :*)
As Captain America would say,
"Good work, soldier!"

I stabbed myself with a poppy, and had to get a tetanus shot.
I nearly died.

Our*
sorry, it was just bugging me.
Just so you know, today is Remembrance Day which commemorates the signing of the WWI armistice, not WW2. Too many people get that wrong, that's what the symbolism of the poppies is silly. As always I have my poppy that I that don't wear.

I don't believe in having one day set aside to honour the veterans. They should be honoured every day.
I am also fed up of hearing that people fought and died for democracy. Different people fought for different things in different conflicts. It may be less poetic, but it would be more accurate just to say that we honour those who fell in battle.

Its pointless, We shouldnt thank them because if they would have won the war...How do You know the world wouldnt be a better place...The opposition was planned...So it probably would have been a better world...So we have nothing too thank for

HEIL!
Need I remind anyone here that the US has triumphed over Nazism and Communism? Two forces that would have liked to have destroyed the American way of life?
I'm saying this as a Fascist: it is a wonderful thing that the allies won WW2.

Veterans Day reminds me of Anti Racism day when I was younger.
I always thought "Shouldn't everyday be anti racism day?"

What I really hate is black history month. MLK sohuld be remembered more often than that week and I feel that national pride should always be emphasised over racial pride.

Actually, ours is about the World Wars as well. But it used to be "Armistice Day", but "Veterans" is more general, being about, well any veteran, especially WW tho.

I know I wasn't around to experience the first world war first hand, but is it just me or were there a lack of americans in WWI in general?

I actually did something really nice today for Veteran`s Day today. I went with my JROTC class this morning to Bedford, VA to see the D-Day Memorial (We are only 2 hours away). We did this big presentation with another school. We had about 40 something flags and each one of us carried one, I had one of the five service flags, the Army one. Basically we just walked down from the arch down to the plaza, but it still looked good. It was pretty cool, they have an area set up that looks like a beach with statues of soldiers moveing up the beach. The water have these little jet type things that shot up making it look like bullets hitting the water.
