Do folk songs count as classical?
It depends on the type of folk song I would think.

Mozart, Fur Elise.
Seems so dark, mysterious.
Either that or Symphony Number 9, or O' Fortuna

My favorite piece of classical music would have to be "Moonlight Sonanta" by Beethoven.

So tell me what are some of your favorite pieces of classical?
I'm partial to Dvorák's Symphony 9 From The New World. All four movements are a masterpiece.
I cant name some off right now but I have nice wonderful classical music on some disc's of mine :D I just like to listen to some and especially on Z104.

Yarrrr, lots of well-known ones, but damn, they're well-known for a reason.
I have too many to name, but my favorite composer is Frederick Chopin. His work is really inspiring and helps to put me in a calm mood and escape. I used to listen to his work a lot when I was having difficulty sleeping. One of my favorite pieces by him is Ballage 4 Op52 (free listen and download).
That song in particular reminds me of a really dark chapter of my life where is was stuck overseas and had no hope of getting home anytime soon. I looked at the time I spent in my bunk with my eyes closed listening to Chopin as my personall getaway or escape. In fact, I am listening to it now and it still brings back strong memories of that time. Makes me glad to be in the states.
You should really take a listen =)
