Arms sales to Iraq from 1973-1990:
USSR -- $25 billion
France -- $5 billion
China -- $5 billion
USA -- $250 million
So much for the propaganda argument that we were the ones who built him and kept him in power.

This was something new? He's also an honorary citizen of Detroit, with a key to the city and everything for donations to a church!

What's this? Russia, France, and China at the very top of the list? I'm absolutely shocked!
Maybe now you'll rethink who the "bad guy" in this conflict is?
Okay, that's a little much to ask.

Aru you saying the U.S. would have sold them more? I think the reason they dont have those figures is because there was a trade embargo and any buying or selling involving Iraq would be illegal.

I didn't see the bit where it said "Weapons of Mass Destruction sales". Maybe I'm blind.

Nobody was supposed to be selling Iraq arms at all from 1991 to the present. There is a complete international embargo on arms sponsored by the UN.

No country was supposed to, but a lot of ilegal weapons sales did occur. And by the way, the $250 million wortyh of military equipment we gave to Iraq was mostly chemical weapons to use aginst the commies in the area.

WRONG, it was to kill the Iranians cuz we were still pissed at them for the whole hostage thing...
i think from 1980-1990 (1980-1988 is the Iraq-Iran War) would be a good time to look at those numbers... not that it really matters either way
OR a year by year thing would also be good

Your enemy's enemy is your friend. Iraq was at war with Iran, Iran was an enemy of the USA.
I'm sure you'll find some way to turn that into Bush being stupid though, go for it.

Oh we did, and I think we still do. To revise my initial statement, we gaver Iraq chemical weapons to combat commies AND Iran. I forgot to mention Iran in my initial statement.

what do you mean with "we still do"?
the Staates do have bio or chem weapons for scientific purposes, but i dont think the USA ever sold BC-weapons to the iraq. Although maybe some EQUIPMENT that can be used to make them was sold to the iraq.

sure *rubs hands* ill have a go. your enemys enemy is NOT by default, your friend. i have got people i absolutely despise at my school and they hate some other people which i also dont like. if the three of us dislike each other completely where is the logic there
i know im on a bigger scale here with whole countries but i think ive made my point. and look! i didn't turn that into a 'George Bush is an Idiot' post.
