WASHINGTON, March 25 — A New Jersey teenager who became the first U.S. minor ever charged with securities fraud two-and-a-half years ago, is now running for political office. In his hometown of Cedar Grove, Jonathan Lebed said he is a candidate for one of two open seats on the five-seat town council. He is 18 and graduated from high school last June.

Hey, if he gets elected, it means that elected office really is open to anyone. Lucky he was a minor when he got arrested. I didn't think you could run for office with a conviction...or maybe that's just a felony. Something like that.

u can run... just not vote... believe me, the former mayor of providence was arrested for a felony and was still re-elected like 3 times... but its ok cuz NOW he's getting it up the butt...

it's not surprising guys, in a town called Linden(or Carteret or nearby), they elected a mayor of age 25.

It's good that they're electing young people, but I think it tarnishes the image of youth when the guy who does get elected was convicted of something.

Hell, Jim Traficant ran for reelection while he was in prison. Granted, he didn't win, but it can be done.
