Convert it to movieclip and use the glow filtrer if you have Flash 8...if you don't, then i dunno

Just convert something to a Movie Clip, then in Filters (the menu in the same group as 'Properties'), add a glow and select whatever for it.

This only works in Flash 8. For older versions, you'll have to either use 'Soften Fill Edges' on the vector drawing, or make the glow in an external program.

1.Convert as symbol (F8)
2.New frame on 10
3. Click on drawing
4. Make Alpha 0
5.In first frame put MOTION TWEEN
6. copy the first frame
7.Paste frame on 20
8. Motion Tween on 10

Avoid filters and softening edges as it chugs the hell out of the viewers processor.

A simple and effective way is through the use of linear and radial fills.

Create your visual graphic, converty to a symbol, add a top layer of a low alpha fill (multiple fills if you prefer) using high contrast colours.

Radial/linear fills can be tricky at first but with practice, and through proper use, can be used to create a great amount of depth/lighting.

BLASPHEMY!

It's true. So long as you do it on simple shapes, all you're basically doing is multiplying the number of vectors you have by however many steps you specify, and throwing some alpha stuff into the mix (which isn't exactly the peak of non-lag, but it's better than filters).

Just don't use it on more complex shapes. But a lightsaber beam is, what, four or five vectors? No prob.

If you use this, make sure you export it as a png or something that supports transparency, with alpha transparency selected NOT index transparency. Otherwise your glow will look like crap.
