Or you could consider the fact that in most of those African nations, they've been affected by years of civil war and poverty and famine. I fail to see how the authors of the study could come to the short sighted conclusion that IQ=country wealth, and that would be considered a fallacy. I wouldn't trust the results of a study that failed to consider other reasons for the IQ disparity between African and Western nations other than race.

In a nation like, say, Sudan, I fail to see how it is that they could come to the conclusion that a country MUST be poor because their citizens have a low IQ when there are a whole host of reasons to consider, like, I don't know, the constant civil wars that the country has had since at least the 70s, such as the current Darfur conflict.

Why are you guys bitching about this? There will never be an accurate poll on whether or not one country is smarter than another, or one race is mentally superior to another. There are too many factors that will effect how well a country or a race will do on an IQ test. The standard in which people live will greatly influence how well their mental capabilities will develop. The government will also have an effect on there mental capabilities. The resources your country also has an effect. This argument should be about the maturity of a country, not how smart it is. The people who bring down a country's or race's IQ probaly don't give a shit about how well they do in school. You guys are trying to prove points that affected by so many things that make it impossible to prove.

I forgot to mention that the way the person feels about their life and what they want to to do with it is a factor. Finally, how hard working and devoted a person is will probally be the most determing aspec their life.

Bush actually has a very high IQ, don't mistake the comedy reels of edited video clip of Bush as evidence that his IQ is low.

He received degrees from both Harvard and Yale, 2 of the top 5 Colleges in the world. Hard to image someone doing that with an IQ lower than 80. Now why don't you try to get accepted into a school like that, get a degree, then come back and question Bush's intelligence.

IQ is simply someone's ability to learn, not what they have learned. However, a survey showing any race being smarter than all the others is probably either racist or done just to piss people off.

Come on, this is the SAME EXACT REASON that the ACT and SAT are not as heavily weighed in college applications. All they prove is how well you did on ONE test, on that particular day.

Your GPA is now the heaviest weighted item on applications (I've talked to Mr. Spencer, the U of M director of Admissions, so I kinda know what I'm talking about).

There are so many other factors that need to be excluded before assesing the intelligence level of an individual it is near impossible.

Iq is a bad way of measuring "smarts", americans may be more book smart like so, but americans suck at naming world capitals, cities, countries etc. So it is the criteria that they teach.

India may be considered that dumb, but not many women are schooled, so naturally they have a low IQ. You can't say they are all dumb if they are mostly doctors, the men strive there whilst the women take care of the house >_>, sad really.

Canadians are known worldwide for being world travellers, for they know about the cultures and people. America just teaches and fouses on math and booksmart subjects. They both have their ups and downs really.

Are you retarded? The UK HAD been the worlds superpower. But now they DON'T have the most powerful military, economy, or culture. The US does. Therefore America IS the world's superpower, and the UK WAS almost a hundred years ago. Since then The Soviet Union rose and fell as a superpower, and China and India (hopefully India more so) are becoming superpowers.

Today, the UK is considered a "great power" because it is relatively powerful compared to other countries in the world. But the US is still the SUPERPOWER, the ONLY Superpower. Therefore the US is a "hyperpower" because the US is currently unrivaled as a Superpower and is exponentially more powerful than the next most powerful countries or possible alliances.

If/when China or India usurpe the US as the worlds leading economic powers, the US will still be a superpower because the US will still be much wealthier per capita, and will have a more powerful military and cultural influence.

For instance, at the rate China and the US are growing, China will have a higher GDP (it will make more money) than the US by the year 2025. But at that same rate of growth, they wouldn't have the GDP per capita (money per person) of the US for hundreds of years. By then, the world as we know it might cease to exist so in reality, the US is going to remain the most prominent force in the world for quite some time.

Therefore, no matter how you spin it. The US is the world's lone superpower, and will be until it is basically forcibly dismantled as a country (which won't happen any time soon). And this wouldn't happen unless there was a nuclear war, and if there was a nuclear war, alot more countries than just the US would cease to exist.
